ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The student immersionist would like to express his heartfelt gratitude for

the opportunity to participate in the Work Immersion program and to the

following individuals who have invested their time and effort into

making the development of this project possible.

To start, I would like to acknowledge my Work Immersion teacher, Ma’am

Reubelle Caldona, for being alongside not just me, but as well as the other

Work Immersion students also. She was the one who introduced us to this

program and made all of this possible, and I am very grateful for it. To

my Immersion supervisor, Engr. Clevenson Maranion, even though you

weren’t always present at the office because of field works, I am still very

thankful to you because, without the guidance you have given me and the

things you’ve said for me to be at ease during my work, I wouldn’t have

come this far by myself.

Republic of the Philippines

I would also like to express my appreciation for the patience and guidance

of Engr. Keisha and Engr. Archie, my second supervisor whenever Engr.

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

Clevenson wasn’t around, I thank you for your willingness to answer my

questions and provide feedback that has been instrumental in helping me to

learn and grow during my time here.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the entire engineering office

team for welcoming me into the workplace and making me feel like a valued

member of the team. The experience I have gained during my Work

Immersion will stay with me for a lifetime, and I will always be grateful for

the opportunities that you and your team have provided me.

And lastly, to our almighty God, thank you for giving me courage and

strength, knowledge and wisdom, and blessings every single day throughout

my Work Immersion job. Without your sole guidance, nothing would have

been possible. It was my pleasure to every single one of you and I thank you

all once again for making my job a truly inexplicable experience.

How to conduct one-self inside the company?

Experience is one of the great things people could have and I’m fortunate

to be one of the few who were able to walk on through the path of a certain

work field. To be able to work alongside real professionals, it has really given

me so much experience and knowledge about what the outside world is all

about and the potential opportunities it could bring to benefit me in many

ways. Throughout my immersion, professionalism has been a given, and in

order to survive, you must know how to behave yourself ethically while

working in the organization.

Republic of the Philippines

Knowing how to act properly is one of the key competencies for success in

any workplace. This entails abiding by the company's policies and

procedures, successfully communicating with coworkers and clients, and

displaying a positive attitude and work ethic. Through my work experience,

it helped me gain these particular insights and it’s safe to say that knowing

how to be respectful is probably the best one among them. Treating everyone

you interact with, from your boss to your janitor, with kindness and

politeness, is always a great thing as it enables you gain the same respect

also and it enhances your reputation as an employee. Being punctual and

presentable should also be taken notice. Arriving on time and

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

dressing appropriately shows everyone in the company of how you highly

value their etiquette rules. In addition, being able to learn the importance of

soft skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability when faced

with challenges or unexpected situations, can lead to successful outcomes

to reaching your common goals.

As a Work Immersion student, I have really gained a lot from being an

employee of a certain company. I have experienced the real-world challenges

and opportunities that come with working in a professional environment. I

have discovered my strengths and interests, as well as areas that I need to

improve on which will benefit me in the preparation of my professional life

in the near future. I certainly believe that this experience will help me

achieve my goals and aspirations in life and I’m looking forward to it as I

embark through this arduous journey of mine.

WEEK OF IMMERSION

WEEK ONE
DAY 1 (March 7, 2023)
It's the official day of our Work Immersion today and I'm very excited as I

wake up at 5:00 am in the morning. As usual, I do my morning routine and

I also had to run some errands for my grandmother. It was then at 7:15 am

that I was all set up and ready to go and I also had to wait for one of my
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

friends because we decided that both of us will be going together at the City

Hall.

The time of our arrival was 7:40 am and as we entered the gate, there were

many students outside lying in wait. After some time, Jose Leuterio, a CNHS

teacher, instructed us all on what to do, and on the 2nd floor of the City

Hall, we had a small orientation. In the said orientation, we talked about

some

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

basic regulations and the department we were gonna be assigned at. Both

me and Venus got appointed at the Engineering Office and when we were

there, we introduced ourselves and did some small errands such as getting

the signatures of the different offices. We did this for some time and we also

did a bit of paperwork such as writing permits. The unexpected happened

when suddenly Venus got transferred to another department because they

were in dire need of someone and there was really nothing I can do about it.

In the afternoon, I met with some of my friends and together we had lunch

at the canteen until it was 1:00 pm. I entered our department before 1:00

pm and I patiently waited for the others to come. All I did throughout the
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

whole hour until 4:00 pm is to do some tasks assigned to me such as

making Xerox copies of files and the logbooks. I departed at exactly 5:00 pm

and that's all the things I did for the day.

DAY 2 (March 8, 2023)

It was somewhat of a hectic day today considering the fact that it's only my

second day, but I can't help to say it because I'm the only immersionist in

my

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

department. I arrived at the City Hall at 7:48 am and the first thing I did

was to clean up the whole office by myself until everyone showed up. The

very first task I was assigned to do was to send some paperwork to the

nearby department for Engr. Denis to sign but unfortunately, he was still

not present. Throughout the whole 4 hours up until 12:00 pm, I wrote down

some building permits, xerox different files, and delivered forms to be signed

all by myself. It was pretty tuff if I say so but fun in some way.
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

In the afternoon, I ate with my other friends in the canteen as usual. When

I got back to the office and the time was already 1:00 pm, everyone was still

not there except for our head Engr. Clevenson and one other person. I also

learned a new thing which was to encode files using the computer with the

help of Engr. Gacula. I first got permission from my supervisor and at

exactly 5:00 pm, I departed together with my friends.

DAY 3 (MARCH 9, 2023)

It was already 7:30 am when we arrived at the City Hall together with my

friend, Venus. I went straight ahead to our office and immediately started

cleaning the whole place before any of the engineers and architects showed

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

up. I greeted everyone as they entered the office and they also greeted me

back. I did my usual work such as printing files, sending paperwork to be

signed, writing different permits, and so on. Whenever I was hungry, I just

eat some snacks I had brought with me while I'm doing my tasks.
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

In the afternoon, I waited for my other friends to be sent off from their

departments and we ate at the canteen together. We also had an

earthquake drill emergency where all of the employees including us

immersionists, had to go outside to evacuate. I had to wear a helmet as I

was going down and it was pretty fun. Engr. Romy also invited me to an

outfield work to get some chairs and tables and this was my second time

going out from the City Hall to work elsewhere. I got back to the office and

did some paperwork again until 5:00 pm and that was all the things that

had happened this day.

DAY 4 (MARCH 10, 2023)

I arrived at the City Hall at exactly 7:30 am again and did my usual

routine as usual. This day is quite special because I was not alone in the

office but rather there were three students from the school of Tamurong who

came as

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

immersionists. I was overjoyed because I no longer have to suffer alone

haha. We did the assigned tasks to us pretty smoothly with no problems

considering the fact that there were more visitors showing up this particular

day.

I didn't get the chance to eat together with my friends in the afternoon

because I had an urgent thing to do and it was to get my teeth fixed. I

arrived in the office at 1:00 pm, did some paperwork, and departed at

exactly 5:00 pm.

WEEK TWO
DAY 5 (MARCH 13, 2023)
It’s Monday today and I arrived at our department at 7:37 in the morning. I

cleaned up as usual and because it was the first day of the week, everyone

had to come out of their offices to attend the flag ceremony. When I got to
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

our office, the very first thing I did was again to do paperwork such as

writing, xeroxing, and arranging some permits. After I finished that, I went

to our storage room and saw that there were dishes unwashed, so I did the

obvious thing and cleaned that up also.

In the afternoon, I ate with my friends in the canteen and after that, we

went to the front of the City Hall to relax until 1:00 pm. I was also surprised

because when it was our break time at 3:00 pm, one of the staff’s brought a

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

bundle of pancit. I had to stop my work to eat some and it was delicious.

After that, I had to enjoy my spare time when suddenly one of my friends

texted me to go to their office and that it was urgent. As I got there, it was

then another celebration party and I had to eat again. I departed at 5:00 pm

and had to ride a tricycle because our service truck had already left.

DAY 6 (MARCH 14, 2023)

The time was 7:35 am when I arrived at the City Hall. I headed straight to

our office, cleaned it up, and continued the assigned work that I had left off

yesterday. I finished it rather quickly and had some spare time to read the
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

book I brought with me titled “Laff Out Loud”, which is all about collections

of jokes, humorous stories, and fun facts. I was then assigned another task

to do some more building permit files until 10:00 am. I also went on the

rooftop of the City Hall building because I was curious what it looks like and

when I got there, I surely was not disappointed.

In the afternoon, we again went into the front garden to rest after I and my

friends ate our fill. There really wasn’t anything special that had happened

other than doing my usual work and eating grapes that Ma’am Bibian

brought

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

for meryenda. I departed at 5:00 pm and rode the free shuttle service

together with my friends.

DAY 7 (MARCH 15, 2023)

It really was just a relaxing day today. I really didn’t do much other than

Xerox some files and write about 3 building permits if I remember so

because there weren’t as many visitors showing up as usual. I arrived at the

Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

City Hall right around 7:37 am together with my friend Venus and cleaned

up the whole office as always. Having such spare time on my hand, I did my

other requirements in our Work Immersion subject such as my daily diary.

In our office, I just sit around or watch the engineers and architects do

their computer work. We departed rather early today and the shuttle service

had almost full passengers on but thank goodness that I got a spot. As we

left the City Hall, we just noticed that one of our friends didn’t get on but it

was too late and she then had to find another ride.

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

DAY 8 (MARCH 16, 2023)

I woke up in the morning at 5:45 am and left home at 7:28 am. It was

rather late to set out because I had to wait for Venus who was still busy

getting ready. We arrived at the City Hall at 7:38 am and I went straight to

our office to do again some work. Just xeroxing, writing, arranging files,
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

throwing out the trash bins, sweeping the floor, and making visitors sign up

for the logbook like I’m used to doing every other day now.

In the afternoon, there was an event at our City Hall Plaza and almost all

of the employees were there to participate where they learned some life-

saving techniques such as CPR. I stayed at the office and had literally

nothing much to do because everyone was at the event. After it ended,

everyone started coming back to the office and of course, they were

exhausted. I was again tasked to do some work but it was only some

transactions to the treasury office like the bill and stuff. I departed together

with my friends at exactly 4:59 pm and it was a good day if I say so myself.

DAY 9 (MARCH 17, 2023)

It is Friday today and it’s the last day of Work Immersion for students of

other schools except for us because we still have one more day to go and it

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

will be on Monday. I arrived at our office and I again have subordinates from

Tamurong National High School that will be helping me do some work. As

usual, I was assigned to write building permits and didn’t do anything else
Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

because my subordinates will do the hard work for me such as

accompanying the visitors and finding some files lol.

The accounting office also invited me to eat outside and because of such a

tempting offer, I didn’t refuse. We ate “linadditan” at a small resto and it

was absolutely delicious considering it was the first time I’d tasted it. I got

back to our office and it was already nearing 12:00 pm. We didn’t go to the

canteen to eat but instead to the office where Venus is working. We hung

out there for some time and Sir Ally was so welcoming too. I immediately got

back to work by the time I entered our office and departed at exactly 4:59

pm.

DAY 10 (MARCH 20, 2023)

It is Monday and it’s officially our last day today for our Work Immersion

some hours because it was still early in the morning for visitors to show up

so I just played some chess on my phone to pass the time.

As visitors constantly showed up to our office, I again had plenty of work to

do and as usual, writing and inspecting permits were my main tasks. I

completed all of it rather quickly because I was already used to it almost

every single day. I got back to our office rather early after I ate with my

friends at the canteen. I was again tasked by one of the architects to xerox

some files and it took almost 2 hours to finish because there was just so

much of it. As the time was nearing to 5:00 pm, I packed up all of my

things and as I left the office, Ma’am Keisa bid me farewell.

REFLECTION

The Work Immersion program, a part of the Senior High School (SHS)

Curriculum consists of 80 hours of hard work and hands-on experience,

and I can finally and proudly say that I have successfully finished it. There

are so many great things that I want to say about my experiences but I

doubt I can hardly say all of them. As a young student, one thing is for sure

being able to have a glimpse of what the real world is capable of, especially

in the field of work, I can certainly tell you that it ain’t an easy journey to

walk on that is why in order to thrive, you need to prepare and brace

yourself to survive. Even though it was full of hardship, the experiences I’ve

accumulated are enough as compensation and I’m just very grateful that I

had the chance to be a part of this program Work Immersion.

Republic of the Philippines

Department of Education
REGION I
SCHOOLS DIVISION OF CANDON CITY

To start things off, I just want to point out that one of the most important

lessons I learned from my Work Immersion program was how to

communicate effectively with different types of people, such as clients,

colleagues, supervisors, and stakeholders. I learned how to listen actively,

ask relevant questions, express my ideas clearly, and provide constructive

feedback. I also learned how to adapt to different communication styles and

preferences and how to use appropriate tools and platforms for different

purposes thanks to

CANDON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL BAGANI CAMPO, CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR

the guidance of the employees. I also learned that having great discipline

toward the things that come your way will always contribute to the greater

good such as reaching your certain goals or objectives in life. These are just

some of the valuable insights I’ve gathered through my experiences but I will

just end it here to keep it short for the reader’s sake.

Overall, the Work Immersion program was a meaningful and enriching

experience that enhanced my knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values. It

gave me a glimpse of what it is like to be part of the workforce and what it

takes to succeed in it. It also inspired me to pursue lifelong learning and

continuous improvement. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in

this program and for the support and guidance I received from my mentors,

teachers, peers, and family. All I can say is that to the upcoming

immersionists, take this golden opportunity to gain what you can and be an

impenetrable force that will prosper in the near future.
