VAN LANG UNIVERSITY

BECOMING A DIGITAL CITIZEN

ASSIGNMENT:
Connect to Social networks

Full name: Hong Tu Uyen

Class: 232_72HBDC10073_04
Instructor: MBA, Ha Dong Hung

Ho Chi Minh, April 2024

On the first day of school, I didn't know what this subject was about and how it related
to my field of study or future career. When I entered the classroom, the teacher
explained to me what this subject was about. It is related to information technology, and
I think it will be helpful for me. The subject introduces the basics of technology to me.
For the first case study, I learned about exploring the technologies around me and
whether I truly understand them or not, along with the software I have been using. I
questioned whether I am using them correctly and have a clear understanding or just
scratching the surface. It also covered the technologies in everyday life. With the
development of technology, using technology is no longer unfamiliar. Everyone needs
to know the basics of technology and how to use it.
In the second case study, I learned about searching for jobs on social media platforms
and websites. I learned how to find desired job opportunities that are suitable for me
and easy to filter. In class, the teacher also introduced us to the use of AI and explained
its advantages and disadvantages. We can apply AI to our work, but we shouldn't
overuse it, as it can make us passive in both work and study. The second case study
taught us different job search methods and pointed out the pros and cons of each method.
Of course, each method has its advantages and disadvantages, but it's important to
prioritize convenience and the desire to find opportunities quickly. However,
technology also has its dark side. It can easily steal user information through small
actions.
In the third case study, we learned about storing and sharing files through the cloud,
which is no longer unfamiliar. In this era, people no longer need to buy USB drives to
store their work, photos, or anything else, as everything can be stored in the cloud. It is
a type of storage, but at the same time, when we use a free technology, it will collect
data for exchange. Some research by university students in the United States has shown
that many students currently use the term "cloud" for storage, but there are also
opposing opinions about it. Additionally, the teacher also introduced us to technological
revolutions and how humans can build and create the most modern inventions in the
future from basic platforms.
Next is about big data. The teacher explained to us about it and its applications in our
profession. For example, in marketing and public relations, big data can be used for user
analysis and evaluation. Big data allows for the collection and analysis of information
from large data sources to understand the behavior, preferences, and needs of users.
This helps advertisers and media distributors create personalized marketing campaigns
and content to enhance the effectiveness of reaching target customers.
Furthermore, big data enables the development of intelligent advertising and marketing
systems based on analyzing data on user behavior, social media interactions, and
geographical information. This helps optimize targeting, distribution, and campaign
optimization for advertising and marketing. It also enables monitoring and analysis of
customer feedback and interactions on social media platforms, forums, and websites.
This helps businesses and media producers understand the opinions, perceptions, and
needs of customers, thereby improving their products and services. Big data allows for

trend analysis and prediction in the field of media. This can help predict the future and
make strategic decisions in content development, marketing plans, and media
distribution.
From the case studies and knowledge I have learned, it can be observed that the subject
of becoming a digital citizen has brought many benefits and provided important
knowledge for our work and daily lives. In the first case study, we understood the
importance of understanding and using technology around us. This helps ensure that we
use technology correctly and effectively. By learning about the software we use daily,
we can improve our understanding and grasp the fundamental concepts of technology.
In the second case study, learning about job searching on social media platforms and
websites helped us grasp career opportunities and know how to choose a job that aligns
with our goals and interests. Additionally, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the
job search process was explored, and it was emphasized that it is important not to over-
rely on AI to avoid excessive dependence on technology. In the third case study, I
learned about storing and sharing files through cloud services. This helps me save
storage space and provides convenience in accessing data from anywhere with an
internet connection. However, it is also important to be aware of security and privacy
issues when using cloud services, as our data can be compromised or misused. And
understanding big data and its applications in the PR industry has given me an overview
of how big data can be used to understand and effectively engage with customers. By
analyzing trends and making predictions, I can make strategic decisions and improve
desired products and services.
Moreover, the subject of becoming a digital citizen has equipped me with essential skills
and knowledge that are increasingly valuable in today's technology-driven world. It has
taught me how to navigate and adapt to the rapidly evolving digital landscape, ensuring
that I am not left behind in the digital age.
By understanding how to use technology effectively, I can leverage its potential to
enhance productivity, communication, and problem-solving in both my personal and
professional life. Whether it is mastering software applications, utilizing cloud storage,
or harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, these skills are essential for staying
competitive and relevant in various industries.
Furthermore, the subject has provided me with insights into the job market and effective
job search strategies. In a digital era where online platforms and social media play a
crucial role in recruitment, understanding how to leverage these tools to find suitable
job opportunities is invaluable. I have learned to optimize my online presence, network
effectively, and utilize AI-powered tools for job matching, ultimately increasing my
chances of securing meaningful employment.
Additionally, the subject has shed light on the importance of data analysis and its impact
on business operations. Through the study of big data, I have gained an understanding
of how businesses can leverage vast amounts of information to improve decision-
making, customer engagement, and overall performance. The ability to analyze and
interpret data has become a sought-after skill, enabling organizations to uncover
valuable insights, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

2
In conclusion, the subject of becoming a digital citizen has empowered me with the
knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in a technology-driven society. It has
emphasized the importance of technology literacy, effective job searching, and data
analysis, all of which are essential for personal growth and success in the future. By
embracing these principles and applying them in various aspects of life, I am better
prepared to navigate the digital landscape and leverage technology to achieve my goals.
