To date, The Cacao Project has trained 200 farmers in agroforestry and planted over 70,000
trees across 70 hectares of land.
About the business:
The Cacao Project is an initiative which builds sustainable, regenerative, and resilient
agricultural livelihoods in San Fernando, Camarines Sur, Philippines. It was founded in
the aftermath of Super Typhoon Nock-ten (Typhoon Nina), which in 2016 destroyed over
80% of agricultural land and highlighted the urgency to rethink the existing food systems
in the area, which have become increasingly vulnerable to extreme weather conditions
brought about by climate change.
The Cacao Project provides skills training, resources, interventions, and guidance for
farmers, ensuring that their livelihoods are positioned to work with nature and restore our
landscapes, while providing them with an equitable livelihood.

2. After that, choose one (1) Filipino entrepreneur that you wanted to be and explain why?
- Of the five Filipino entrepreneurs listed above, I wanted to be like Avin Ong, the founder of
the Fredley Group of Companies. After researching the backgrounds of the entrepreneurs and
their business origins, his story is the one I liked, and it encouraged my inner self the most. It
started with humble beginnings, having a dream, and aiming for it. Like any other
businessperson in the field, seize all of the opportunities that come into your life, no matter how
small or big, as long as you know within yourself that you will do your best to achieve your
dreams. Don't wait for the right opportunity to present itself. You should knock on every door to
find opportunities. Also, I learned from him that humility is one of the keys to success because it
helps the person be ready to admit their failures during their journey through their business
lifetime.
