Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 8

(Day 12)

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concept of factors of

polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables,
systems of linear equations and inequalities in two variables and linear functions.

Performance Standard: The learners are able to formulate real-life problem involving factors of
polynomials, rational algebraic expressions, linear equations and inequalities in two variables,
systems of linear equations and inequalities in two variables and linear functions, and solve these
problems accurately using a variety of strategies.

Learning Competency:
 The learners illustrate rational algebraic expressions. (M8AL-Ic-1)
 The learners simplifies rational algebraic expressions. (M8AL-Ic-2)
 The learners performs operation on rational algebraic expressions. (M8AL-Ic-d-1)
 The learners solve problems involving rational algebraic expressions. (M8AL-Id-2)

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Preliminary Activity

1. Greetings
Good Morning, class! Good morning ma’am!
How’s your day? We are feeling good ma’am.
I’m glad to hear that.
Before we start, kindly pick up
unnecessary things around you and
kindly arrange your chair properly. Is
that clear?

2. Prayer
Everybody stand-up for the prayer. (Students will stand up and do the prayer)
(Name of the student) lead the prayer.

3. Checking of Attendance
(Name of the student), our secretary, (Secretary will tell who are the absentees of

That’s great, class.
4. Checking of Assignment
Class, last meeting I gave you an (Students will pass their assignment forward)
assignment. So, now please pass your
assignment forward and I will check it
later.

5. Drill

exercise, would you like that class?

By mental math calculation you have

to give me the answer of the
expression to be flashed in the screen,
if you know the answer just say it
quickly. The first one to give the
correct answer will be our winner.
Make sure so state you answer in the
simplest form.
Are you ready class? Yes ma’am we are ready!
Okay let’s begin.

“Exactly, very good! Who can give (The answer of student may vary)
me an example of Rational Algebraic

another one?
That’s also correct. It seems that you
really understand our topic last
meeting.

6. Motivation Yes ma’am, we love to play a game!

Okay class, before we proceed, let’s
have a little game first, would you like
to play a game?
Very well hen, we are going to play
pass the message mathematics edition.

We group the class into two, each

group will form a line having the
decoder at back of the line the back
and encoder at the front of the board,
and the connectors in between them.
Decoder will pass the message by
drawing it in the back of the first
connector, then the connectors the will
pass it the way the decoder did it will
transfer if and the encoder will
illustrate it on the board and give the
answer if needed, simplify if needed.
No one can make a sound until the
encoder is done illustration it. Is that
clear class? Yes ma’am.
Okay now let’s begin, are you ready? Yes ma’am we are ready!

Before we hop on the presentation of
your projects, let’s see what are the
lesson objectives that we have today.
Everybody please read the objectives. Through presentation of final output, the

Class when we are done with our

discussion today, I am expecting that
you can do those what you have read.
Is that clear class? Yes ma’am.
Okay now let’s continue.

B. Lesson Proper

1. Presentation of the project.

Class, bring out you projects, the floor (The students will bring out their projects)
plan and the newsletter.
Now I am going to divide the class
into three groups, each group will
choose two outputs, one for floor plan
and one for newsletter. The group 1
will give comment to group 2 and the
group 2 will give comment to group 3.
Group 3 will give comment to group 4
and the last group should be the one to
give comment to group 1.
Before you present you works let look
back to the rubrics I had given to you.

Class your grade will be divide into

two, the group grade given by your
classmates and the grade that I am
going to give, in grading your
classmates you’re going to use the Yes ma’am.
same rubric, is that clear?
After you present your work I will
choose one student to give question or Yes ma’am.
give comment about your work.
Okay?
I want every body to listen to your
classmates presentation and the only
one to talk is the one to give comment (The learner will present their works and give
and the presenter. comment to their classmate)
Okay now let’s begin.

2. Feedbacking (The student’s well listen)

(The teacher will provide comment
and suggestion to the student’s out)
Before I forget class, I want you to
send the copy of you news letter and
floor plan as well as the score you to

will wait it until 8am tomorrow. Is that
clear?

3. Wrap up.
Before we end our discussion lets look

expression.
Ma’am Adding and subtracting rational
algebraic expression.
Ma’am multiplying and dividing rational

Ma’am similar and dissimilar rational
algebraic expression.

Very good class! those are all correct. Ma’am first we Identify the problem.
Now class, how do we solve problems
involving rational algebraic
expressions?
Very good!
First we should identify what is the
problem we need to solve. Ma’am we should devise a plan.
Next step? Ma’am we form the appropriate expressions

plan?
Correct! Ma’am we carry out the plan.
After that?
Very good.! Ma’am we check.
Lastly?
Very good!
Now for the most important question. (Answer may vary)
Do you think studying rational
algebraic expression has a significance
in our daily life? why or why not?
