    Syllabus:
    UNIT III:: (Module-1) Memory Hierarchy: Memory system characteristics; Memory system technologies; Memory
    hierarchy; Cache memory; Main memory, RAM and ROM; Flash memory; External memory; Magnetic disk; SSD;
    RAID.
    UNIT III:: (Module-2) Input/Output Techniques: I/O module structure and function; I/O techniques; Interrupt-driven
    techniques; Direct Memory Access; Direct Cache Access.
    UNIT IV:: (Module-1) Processing Performance Measurement: Performance metrics of processing system;
    Processing system classification; Flynn taxonomy.
    UNIT IV:: (Module-2) Instruction Pipeline: RAW, WAW, WAR dependencies; Instruction pipelining; Pipeline hazards
    and remedy techniques; Multicycle scalar pipeline.

    Reading: Text/reference books (as per syllabus), handouts(if any).
