COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
LAVALE, PUNE - 412115
SUBJECT: POWER DEVICES & CIRCUITS
EXPERIMENT NO. :
CLASS:
DATE OF PERFORMANCE: TITLE:
DATE OF SUBMISSION:
SIGNATURE OF STAFF:

AIM:
To study V – I & Transfer characteristics of power MOSFET.

APPRATUS:
1. Trainer kit
2. Regulated dc dual power supply.
3. Digital Multimeters, dc ammeter.
4. Connectors, etc.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

PROCEDURE:

A) V-I Characteristics:

1. Make the connection as per the diagram.

2. Keep the gate source voltage constant at 0V (VGS = 0V).
3. Apply the VDS = 1V, still drain current ID will be zero
4. Now increase VGS gradually till ID becomes nonzero, note this VGS as VGS1
5. Now Vary the VDS from 0 to 12V as per the steps mention in the observation
table.
6. Note down the corresponding readings of ID.
7. Repeat the above procedure for different VGS2 = VGS1 + 0.1V,
VGS3 = VGS2 + 0.1V, VGS4 = VGS3 + 0.1V,
( precaution must be taken that in any case VGS should not exceed + 5V )
8. Plot the drain characteristics VDS Vs ID for various values of VGS on graph
paper

. B) Transfer Characteristics:

1. Make the connection as per the diagram.

2. Keep the gate source voltage constant at VGS3 as above part (A) and increase VDS
to 12V, note down corresponding ID
3. Now decrease gate source voltage constant at VGS in step of 0.1V till ID = 0and
note down corresponding ID values

4. Plot the transfer characteristics VGS Vs ID for constant value of VDS
