Industry profile
Mango, Sapota, Jamun, Guava are the major fruit crops grown in the region. In vegetable segment, chilli, onion and tomato are the major vegetable crops in. The potential for flower production is very high because of congenial climatic conditions for flowers like jasmine, rose, etc
Agriculture is of primary focus in the district. The aim in this district is to revitalize the sector and create forward and backward linkages .
Owing to the expanding horticulture in the district, opportunities to integrate the value chain through VAP based industries are high. Apart from processing units, there is a huge scope for storage infrastructure in the region.
Agro-climatically, the district is well suited for mulberry cultivation and sericulture is being practiced for the past 30 years. Ranebennur block is potentially strong and has got 600 hectares of mulberry area.
Sheep and goat rearing are confined mainly to Haveri and Ranebennur taluks and also to specific communities. Pig rearing is seen in all the taluks. Ranebennur leads in tems of the number of cattle head followed by Haveri, Hirekerur and Hangal.

Physical infrastructure
Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM) with a captive generation capacity of 397 MW, is responsible for supply of electricity in Haveri. The closest power generation units are Bellary Thermal Power Station and Sharavathi Hydel Power Project. POWER Tungabhadra, Dhama & Varada are the important rivers flowing through the district. Apart from the rivers, Haveri is highly dependent on groundwater. The current public investments aim at homogenizing water availability throughout the district through various programmes like irrigation, watershed management, etc. WATER
