Student Instructions
This guide is intended to assist students in accessing and using the new LEEA training
portal. The training courses can be accessed through the members’ area of the website or
directly via www.leeatraining.com
File Names
The system will automatically name the assignment files and rename them when marked to
allow you to identify marked and unmarked assignments. Do not rename any files when
saving.
Note: If, unfortunately, you consider that the password you have been allocated is offensive,
please accept our apologies, contact us and we will change it.
Student Space
When you have accessed the system you have your own “Student Space” where you can
add gadgets, maintain a calendar, list tasks etc. Please feel free to personalise this area as
you like. Certain messages will be sent to you relating to your course and some will require
you to complete tasks within a certain time so please take care to read any messages you
may receive.
Guidance
The following screen prints are given to enable you to recognise the screens you will be
presented with as you access the system and begin to complete the assignments.
Access the training through the member’s area of the website or via www.leeatraining.com
Click on the large “Students” button.
Enter your student number (e.g.001010) in the user name field and your password (e.g.
pike:01:15:00) in the password field. Click on the “Log In” button.
This will access your personal “Student Space”. You can customise this area and access
the documents containing your course material and assignments.
The “My Entries” tab allows you to check the details of the course for which you are
entered.
The “My Documents” tab allows you to access the documents for your course. Simply click
on the “Documents” icon
In the “Download documents” column click on the icon to download and save the
assignment.
Follow the instructions on the screen to download the document
You will have the option to Open or Save the document. We recommend that you always
save the file before opening it. Save it to your work folder but do not change the file name.
When the download is complete, click “Close” then click the cross at the top right to
close the “download a document” dialogue box. Repeat the download process for the
course material related to the assignment.
Note: We recommend that you now logout of the training portal whilst you work on your
course. If you forget, the system will automatically ‘time out’ after a short interval.
Access your course material on your computer. It will open as a Word document. When you
are ready to complete the assignment, that document will open as a Word form. Follow the
instructions at the top of the page.
When you have answered all the questions, save the document to your folder using the
same file name.
Note: If you are using Word 2007, it may try to save the file with a .docx suffix instead of the
.doc suffix. However you will be able to choose to save it in the original format and it is
essential that you do save it as a .doc file.
Return to the website and login using the login process described earlier. Then click the
“My Documents” tab, then click on the “Documents” icon
In the “Upload completed assignment” column click the “Upload” icon
You will see the following screen, click the “Browse” button
Select your assignment from your work folder and click “Open” in the dialogue box.
Once selected click “Upload”
The document will upload and the history column will tell you this is complete. The uploaded
document will be delivered to your tutor and be returned to you when marked. After upload,
the system will release the next assignment and course material.
Note: The course material from the previous assignment(s) will remain available until the end
of the course.
Repeat the process for all remaining assignments. The work can be completed at your own
pace although it is expected that you will average one assignment per week.
Your tutor will download your completed assignments and, after marking them, upload them
in a similar manner. The download icon will then appear in your Download marked
assignments column and you can download them following the same procedure as before.
The marked assignments should be saved in your work folder using the file name allocated.
This will file documents for you in the correct order.
You should allow 10 to 14 days between uploading your completed assignment and
receiving it back after marking
If you have any problems in entering the training portal or in completing the process please
contact us by email on mail@leea.co.uk
It is possible for both students and tutors to inadvertently upload the wrong document.
Please check you have selected the correct document before uploading. However if you do
make a mistake, please notify us immediately to enable us to correct the error.
Reminder: Throughout these instructions we ask you to use the file names offered by the
system and not to change them. This is because the system automatically names the file
according to its contents and adds to the name at each stage thereby enabling us to identify
which student has completed the assignment and which tutor has marked it. Any change to
the filename is likely to result in lost documents.
