One further argument in favour of brain drain is that it also helps the sending countries flourish.
When a number of highly skilled people go abroad to get better job opportunities, they give a chance to the rest to
find opportunities in their countries. Thanks to this, the rate of unemployment in developing countries decreases.
Furthermore, they send foreign currency that helps develop their countries’ infrastructure, housing and health care.
In addition, emigrants usually invest their money in their native countries which results in more job opportunities.

All in all, I should like to emphasise that although it is true that brain drain has harmful effects, it would be
wrong to claim that it is totally negative. As a matter of fact, it has much more positive effects that benefit the
emigrants, their families, and their countries. If countries complain about brain drain’s drawbacks, they should simply
work on turning it into brain gain.

Brain drain, or human capital flight, is defined as the movement of highly skilled professionals from
developing countries to developed ones. Some view brain drain as a negative phenomenon since it has many
negative effects on the source countries. For example, these countries lose their skilled human capital. However,
brain drain can actually be very beneficial not only for the emigrant, but also for his family and country in general.

The first argument I would like to mention is that brain drain has positive impact of the emigrants’ life.
Owing to brain drain, the individuals have better opportunities, get higher salaries, and thus develop financially.
Therefore, they can ameliorate their living standards and conditions. Moreover, they can increase their professional
as well as academic development through various educational and professional trainings.

Another significant argument that supports brain drain is that it also provides the emigrants’ modest families
back home to ameliorate their situation. Thanks to the money their emigrant relative sends, those families can have
access to better education, health care, housing and accordingly better quality of life.
