DEFINITION OF COMPUTER ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT AUTHORS

1.
A computer is a machine capable of processing data and delivering results
from input data calculated and managed by a program. Every computer
must be able to be programmed to automate processes.

Author: Javier Cinacchi

2. It is a fast and accurate electronic system that manipulates symbols or data

that are designed to accept input data, process it, and produce outputs
(results) under the direction of a program of instructions stored in its
memory. Computer users consider the term system as a set of parts that are
integrated for the purpose of achieving a goal. The following three
characteristics are essential.

Author: Priale:

3. Computer: it is a machine designed to accept a set of input data, process it

and obtain a set of output data as a result. On the other hand, we must take
into account that we can use a computer in different tasks. Normally these
instructions are previously stored in the computer, so the user only needs to
interact with it through data input and output.

Author: Antonio Garrido Carrillo

4. A computer is a machine with great capacity and speed. It has become a

man's assistant that helps him in a wide range of activities such as:
 Control the flight simulators to provide initial training on the ground
 Verify the amount of money in a deposited account
 Help calculation engineers
 Register brands and evaluate sports competition statistics
 Provides oceanographic help.

Author: Efraín Oviedo Regino

5. The computer in its physical structure is composed of the input and output
unit, the processing control unit, the arithmetic logic unit and memory. A
computer to store and transmit information is based on code that only uses
two symbols 0 and 1, called binary code.

Author: LC Edgar Adrián Sánchez Soto MTE Arturo Ocampo Lopez

6. A computer is an electronic device that accepts input data , processes it,
stores it, and outputs it as output for interpretation . The computer is part of
a computing system. Like the one illustrated below. Computer Components:
a computing system is made up of hardware, peripherals and software .
Author: Johannalis* Monsalve*

7. The computer, whose etymology comes from the Latin “computare” (which
means to compute, calculate, appraise or evaluate), is an electronic device
that contains multiple circuits, through which it carries out instructions that
the user orders with a specific function. These guidelines are known as
“input”, and the process is called “programming”.

Author: Martínez, Aurora

8. Machine capable of carrying out a sequence of operations through a

program, in such a way that processing is carried out on a set of input data,
obtaining another set of output data. Electronic device capable of receiving
a set of instructions and executing them by performing calculations on
numerical data, or by compiling and correlating other types of information. It
is a high-power electronic calculator equipped with high-capacity memories
and peripheral devices, which allows very complex logical and arithmetic
problems to be solved very quickly and without human intervention during
the development of the process.

Author: Madelin Sanchez

9. A computer is an electronic device basically composed of a processor, memory,

and input/output devices, and allows information to be processed. Technically a
computer is a programmable machine, this means that it can execute a list of
instructions and respond to new instructions that are given to it. In any case, today,
the term computer is colloquially associated with desktop PCs and notebooks;
Tablets and smartphones are also computers.

10. Computing, also known as information technology, is the science that is
responsible for studying, evaluating or expanding technological and digital
equipment. It is responsible for studying, expanding and understanding the
processes of computers, apart from the operation of the peripheral
equipment that can work with it, such as printers, plotters, scanners, faxes,
etc...

The computer is, by far, one of the inventions that has given the most benefits to
humanity. Its enormous capacity to process data makes it a fundamental part in the
development of science. But... what makes it possible for this powerful electronic
machine to work? Hardware in combination with software makes this possible.
Computer hardware refers to all those elements that are tangible in a computer,
while software is those computer programs, instructions and rules that make it
possible to execute specific tasks on a computer.

This article will focus more on the hardware devices that are “indispensable” for the
correct functioning of a computer, which are:

Keyboard

It is the device that allows the user to enter data so that it can later be interpreted
and processed by the CPU. The appearance of a computer keyboard is quite
similar to that of a typewriter and currently its classification is as follows: XT
keyboard, AT keyboard, expanded keyboard, Windows keyboard, ergonomic
keyboard and wireless keyboard.

It should be noted that in most modern operating systems you can use virtual
keyboards (on screen or monitor) that can be operated with the mouse, giving the
user the possibility of simulating the operation of a real keyboard.
Central processing unit

Commonly known as a microprocessor, it is responsible for processing the data

contained in the programs and interpreting the user's instructions. The evolution of
technology in this area has been so great that there are currently dual-core
microprocessors that are basically two processors in one, which allows them to
considerably increase data processing capacity more quickly.

Although the definition of CPU in recent years has been quite clear, the entire
"frame" in which all the components and cards are assembled (RAM memory ,
video card, sound card, card) is commonly called CPU. mother, etc.) of a
computer.

Monitor

It is the device that, through an interface, allows the user to view the data
previously processed by the CPU. The minimum unit that can be represented on a
monitor is called a Pixel, which can be defined as each of the points that make up
a digital image. Currently the latest in technology are liquid crystal monitors (LCD).
Mouse

In computing, a mouse is the device that, like the keyboard, allows you to send
instructions to a computer while it interacts with a graphical interface .
Nowadays it is an essential device in an order, but it is expected that in the not too
distant future this device will disappear, leaving this task to human eyes.

floppy drive

It is the unit where the reading of flexible disks or floppy disks, a data storage
medium, is carried out. Nowadays, most recent model computers no longer even
take this device into account. Because? The poor reliability of these devices was
one of the main reasons. And the truth is that floppy disks have been obsolete for
a long time, whether they like it or not.

CD ROM
Compact Disk Read Only Memory (CD-ROM) is a mass storage system that
allows storage of 680 Mb . When referring to “read only”, it means that you can
only record on this medium once. Computer manufacturers, in the same way that
happened to floppy disk drives, are making the decision to omit the integration of
CD readers in their equipment to leave the way clear for the DVD , which we will
probably talk about later.

Finishing

It could be said that these are the most essential hardware devices for a
computer to work (without forgetting the RAM, the motherboard and other slightly
more technical elements). But there are a large number of hardware devices that
facilitate day-to-day tasks for the different types of users that exist. As technology
advances in such leaps and bounds, let us not be surprised if, in a few years, some
of these devices will be considered obsolete.
