Chapter I

THE RESEARCH AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Today, about half of humanity’s work is completed by the use of technology

thanks to the introduction of such advancement like auto-generated replies for many

companies, universities, and even countries, smartphone technology, and many other

innovations in the 21st century. One of them is the QR attendance checker, which is a

term used to describe a system or program that tracks attendance at events, meetings,

classes, or any other gathering where it is necessary to monitor attendance using

Quick Response (QR) codes.

A two-dimensional matrix barcode known as a QR code (quick-response code)

was developed in 1994 for the purpose of labeling vehicle parts by the Japanese

company Denso Wave. A QR code, which can be read by an imaging device like a

camera, is made up of black squares organized in a square grid on a white backdrop

with certain fiducial markers. The Reed-Solomon error correction technique is then

applied to the picture until it can be properly understood. Patterns that are present in

the QR image's horizontal and vertical components are then used to retrieve the

necessary data.

The results showed by the QR Code Statistics 2023 of ScanovaBlog, explains

that QR Codes are getting more and more popular. due to the growing global

popularity of smartphones. It rose sharply from 3.2 billion in 2016 to 6.8 billion by

2023, according to projections. This would lead to an annual rise of 4.2%. One further

benefit that has emerged is the increased availability of high-speed internet. By 2022,

there will be 5 billion unique mobile users. This showed that over 60% of all Internet
users globally were using mobile devices. By January 2023, this had grown to 5.16

billion users globally, or 64.4% of the world's population. These conditions have led

to the widespread usage of QR Codes. For this reason, QR Codes are ubiquitous,

appearing even on building walls and product packaging. The rapid advancement of

technology in the world today has left a large gap for humanity to fill as it seeks to

develop more sophisticated and various technologies. As a result of the high quality

and range of requirements and desires that technology can meet, the number of people

using mobile devices is steadily rising. It may also significantly improve the way

many people live, work, and communicate, as well as spur further innovation.

The results showed by the The Features of Quick Response (QR) code as an

Attendance Monitoring System: its acceptability and implication to classroom of

ResearchGate, In order to evaluate the new Quick Response (QR) Code platform's

capabilities and acceptance as an attendance tracking system, a research was

conducted. The research, which involved 20 teachers who customized the QR code

and 36 students that were given access to the attendance tracking system in the first

quarter of the 2018–2019 school year, utilized purposive sampling. Based on the

collective assessments of the teachers, users, and students, the results showed that the

usage of QR codes as an attendance tracking system was generally extremely

acceptable in regards to safety and privacy as well as dependability, effectiveness,

preciseness, and convenience. The responses of participants suggest that using the

Quick Response Code as an attendance verification was an innovative, economical,

user-friendly, rapid, and readable method that also happened to be environmentally

beneficial. Because of this, the research is focused on evidence-based practice

employing this kind of innovation that will be preferred for ongoing development and

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
the effective adaption of the QR code, which is crucial for changing and streamlining

the process of verifying students' attendance in class.

As mentioned by Nitish Garg in 2023, The accuracy of manually verifying a

student's presence may be compromised, and there is a potential that a present student

may be incorrectly marked absent. But because the student attendance management

system is so accurate, students are unable to take attendance by any other means. It

takes time and gets more laborious for teachers to call out each student's name

individually and record their attendance in every class they teach. This is especially

true for online learning. Additionally, some students may experience internet

connectivity troubles, making it impossible for them to unmute their microphone and

announce their presence as soon as a teacher calls on them.

Subsequent to this, Y. Saheed, et. al (2013). It is common knowledge that for

efficient planning, administration, and operation, almost all organizations—

commercial or educational—need to accurately record the attendance of their workers

or pupils. The majority of institutions in underdeveloped nations take attendance of

students using an antiquated file system that involves calling names and utilizing

paper attendance sheets. This method has been in use for a very long time.

Furthermore, as technology advances and creates a more sophisticated environment,

life will inevitably get easier, worry-free, and hassle-free. It will be easier to keep an

eye on attendance and paper records at colleges and institutions, much as how modern

technology is used.

As mentioned by P. Taxila in 2009, The management of the universities finds

it more difficult to manually compute the percentage of courses attended and missed

and to update the attendance record on a regular basis for the processing of results and

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
exams later on. This study built and implemented a solution to address the challenges

related to attendance recording while keeping these concerns in mind. The Quick

Response (QR) Code makes it easier to confirm a student's attendance at a school. It

can track the percentage of students attending class, much like the existing invention,

but using a straightforward QR Code to verify attendance is quicker, simpler, and

saves teachers time.

Due to the recent discoveries of such advancement, many people find it

amazing and bizarre at the same time. Most people want to get most of the things that

they could possibly get so that they can have a much more smoother life, but that

actually depends on the usage of devices a person's is consuming. Technologies can

help people drastically base on the capabilities of one's specification, one of those

things are the attendance checker that are used worldwide. Many nations uses this

kind of system not only in their company, but also in universities, malls, national

property, and can even track the number of people going and identifying their identity

to provide safety to other people. Although, technology advancement is widely spread

and used as of today, it cannot operate without the surveillance of a person that

control how much the system can do and provide.

As mentioned by Singh in 2016, With the present state of technology, QR

codes are very easy to create and readable, even with a barcode reader app on a

smartphone. Due to their capacity to scan and interpret QR codes, cellphones have

become increasingly popular. The quicker generation of QR Codes and the download

of barcode readers for use on cellphones will therefore make attendance simpler. This

results from the rapid advancement of technology in today's environment. Using a

smartphone to scan and understand QR codes makes it easy to keep track of

attendance.

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
As mentioned by Mohd Athan in 2009, The current student attendance method

is still manual, with the class instructor calling each day to register the student's

attendance in the student's attendance record book. This procedure not only wastes

students' important learning time, but it also puts a load on instructors and raises the

possibility of negligence on their part, since teachers may count the number of days

pupils attend class incorrectly. Manual attendance checks are still carried out in the

present day. A record book that functions as their record book has the professors'

names written in it. But it may be lost, and teachers might write or calculate things

wrong, which would result in an erroneous attendance record.

Subsequent to this, Williams et al, (2000). Since students usually carry their

attendance record book home with them, the class teacher may not be able to show up

for class. This might pose issues when recording attendance from the students. There

can be a problem if the instructor forgets their record book at home or goes for class.

This may be the cause of incapacity to verify attendance, which is problematic

because it's one of the methods professors use to ascertain whether or not a pupil is in

class.

As mentioned by Singh in 2016, It's true that the conventional method of

recording attendance in the classroom is time-consuming, expensive, and requires a

lot of paper work. Is it possible to modernize the processes used to verify attendance?

Through the adaptation of QR (Quick Response) technology, the researchers will

ascertain that. Since QR codes scan quickly and accurately, they were first used in

1994 to track car businesses. Today, more individuals are using QR codes because of

their adaptability and the quantity of data they can hold. Links to websites of

businesses, advertisements of goods and prices, online menus, and contest registration

pages are all made possible by QR codes. Taking attendance in a classroom using the

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
conventional manner can be inefficient and time-consuming. Studies are looking into

using QR codes to expedite the process, though. Touch-free precision, digital system

integration, and user-friendliness are just a few advantages of using QR codes for

attendance tracking. QR codes are two-dimensional barcodes that may include a lot of

data, including text, URLs, and contact details. In addition to being printed on badges

and other tangible materials, attendees can also obtain their unique QR codes digitally

through email or mobile apps. Generally speaking, QR codes provide a rapid and

effective solution to check attendance while reducing paper waste and saving time.

Subsequent to this, Liu et al, (2003). These days, a large number of academic

and industrial researchers are delving into the possibilities of mobile technologies and

equipment to sustain life. Due to continuous technological improvements, the

situation is now quicker. This is because fresh findings may be used to make

complicated situations simpler. A few instances of modern technology that make

individuals live faster lives include smartphones and other devices.

As mentioned by Lamey in 2019, The widespread adoption of smartphone

technology has led to an increase in the usage of QR codes, and the ability to read and

decode barcodes is becoming a common educational tool. Using modern teaching

materials is what most teachers do to speed up a portion of their task. The

smartphone's architecture is a major factor in why a QR code or barcode decoding

may be read more rapidly. The smartphone's ability to read and scan codes is what led

to this. These methods are already used in the current educational system.

As mentioned by Chen in 2019, An essential tool for tracking student

attendance at school and preventing absenteeism is the student's QR code system.

Using the QR code method to ensure student attendance is a smart move because

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
prestigious universities use it to save time. All that is needed is for the pupil to line up

their QR code with the scanner; the device will quickly identify them.

As mentioned by MD. Athan in 2009, The current attendance method is

manual, requiring the class teacher to enter each student's attendance into a log book.

Right present, most teachers still verify students' attendance by hand. This not only

wastes important teaching time but also creates an issue that stops lessons from being

presented because of how long it takes to verify attendance. Teachers physically

verify attendance by writing down each student's name and attendance in a log book.

It may get lost or be left someplace, which would completely ruin the class and make

attendance monitoring difficult.

Subsequent to this, Kadu et al, (2017).With its encoded, user-friendly, and

economical management system, the Quick Response (QR) code is extremely safe for

sending and storing private information. The QR Code makes all records—including

information on student attendance—more secure as it avoids immediate loss. They

can more easily keep track of students' attendance and absences, as well as their

percentage of class attendance, without having to worry about losing data. Because of

technological advancements, monitoring attendance no longer requires wasting a lot

of paper and is also quicker and less expensive.

Subsequent to this, Rizal et al, (2016). The benefit of monitoring student

attendance each day is that it can impact the school's overall performance. According

to studies, pupils who attend class on a regular basis perform better academically. One

practice that teachers perform in every class that a student attends is checking the

attendance. This is when a teacher would typically call on each student by name and

wait for them to raise their hands. Although this could appear efficient, it might be

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
time-consuming and repetitious, which could make students less interested in or

motivated to attend to class. Analyzing the teachers' attendance has a big effect on the

kids. It may serve as an indicator of the pupils' performance in the classroom.

Students who regularly attend class may grow as individuals, according to a research.

Teachers have difficulties while using the manual approach of monitoring attendance

because of student opinions and classroom noise levels. Furthermore, it consumes a

significant amount of a teacher's class time.

As mentioned by Singh in 2016, Many businesses are using QR codes to link

to their websites, advertise their products, prices, online menus, and contest register

pages. The modern tools that will be used for them—like QR codes—are simpler for

pupils to comprehend. It seems that they already know how to utilize the QR Code

and are comfortable with it. This is so that people can recognize the QR Code on

items that users frequently come across, such products and webpages.

As mentioned by Jones in 1984, Examining the correlation between absences

and grades in 496 undergraduate psychology students, it was discovered that while

poor attendance seemed to be a cause of lower grades, lower scores also seemed to be

a trigger of a greater number of absences from class, indicating that there may be a

feedback loop between classroom attendance as well as grades that results in a decline

in performance in school for some students. One may argue that the kids who miss

school the most are the ones with the worse grades. The student's absences from class

are one of the reasons their grade is low and no one understands why.

The results showed by the Global QR code usage statistics in 2022-2023 of

QR Tiger, explains how the capability of QR codes has expanded to include more

uses and effectiveness in marketing initiatives. Approximately 6.93 billion

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
smartphones were in use worldwide as of January 2024, with 5.60 billion of those

users being considered "unique." A staggering 26.95 million QR Code scans from all

channels were conducted globally in 2022–2023, according to the most recent QR

Code statistics report from QR Code Generator. In actuality, 8 QR codes are created

per minute—a noteworthy pace of QR code usage. The development of contemporary

technology is accelerating due to new inventions. Because of their rapid usage, QR

codes are among the fastest growing. These days, the QR code is useful and effective

in business. hence it speeds up the procedure. Moreover, QR codes are now widely

used in signage, products, and even cell phones.

As mentioned by Ericsson and The Radicati Group forecasts, It's anticipated

the number will rise. For QR code surveys, this implies two things: widespread use

and high response rates. Its continued expansion at a quicker rate can be attributed to

technology. According to surveys, QR codes are gaining traction and have high

response rates.

As mentioned to data by Blue bite, There was a 96% increase in QR code

reach and a 94% increase in QR engagements between 2018 and 2020. In addition,

6.64 billion individuals worldwide currently own cellphones. The first major factor

contributing to the widespread usage of exercise equipment in the current period is

technological improvement. Since technology is more user-friendly, more people opt

to utilize it, according to the data gathered; this is partially because more people own

cellphones these days.

The results showed by the How to Track Attendance with QR Codes of Blog,

Since its initial implementation for inventory management, QR Codes have seen

significant development. They're being used more and more for a variety of additional

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
use-cases as a touchless physical-to-digital link because to the COVID pandemic's no-

contact requirement. Tracking attendance with QR codes is one of these common use

cases. Users that have used the technology as a QR Code check-in system or sign-in

sheet have found it to be a smooth solution. And even once COVID is long gone,

they're probably going to be there as a useful tool for monitoring and reporting

attendance. One of the most trustworthy methods to confirm attendance is with a QR

code, as contagious illnesses do occasionally strike other pupils. As a result, the pupil

and others or the instructor won't have a long-lasting relationship, which will stop the

infection. According to the data that we were able to gather, ninety percent of students

feel that they must attend class even when they are sick because they don't want to

miss any assignments. Consequently, the QR Code provides a useful explanation for

the safe and simple completion of the attendance check.

The results showed by the Qr Code Tracking of Qr Planet, The moment the

scan occurs is also documented by using the QR Code generator to monitor QR code

usage. They capture the time and date for every QR Code scan, no matter where it is

scanned. For this reason, in order use the same QR Code in a nation with a different

time zone, the local scanning time will always be shown. Like the one that already

exists, this invention is beneficial since it shows the student's data along with the

precise moment of entry. On the local time of the website where it was scanned or

made, the timestamp will likewise be based.

The results showed by the Everything you need to know about Qr Codes

Tracking in 2023 of Blinq, For companies of all sizes, QR code marketing is a cost-

effective and long-lasting marketing option. To generate codes for their marketing

initiatives, businesses may simply employ a QR code generator. QR codes are a

financially sensible alternative because they don't require printing or other production

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
costs. Promoting events for new product launches, seasonal promotions, and exclusive

discount chances is made easier by the simplicity of creating a QR code. For instance,

by holding a contest to guess what will be launched, a business launching a new

product line might lure buyers with a sense of mystery. For firms with a significant

risk of human error, data collecting is frequently laborious and time-consuming.

Rather than tracking data collecting activities, organizations may improve accuracy

by tracking QR code scans. For example, companies may manage product inventories

or obtain client feedback using QR codes. With QR code tracking, organizations may

also keep tabs on distinct scans, places, times, and dates. Furthermore, QR codes may

collect client feedback and provide organizations with an easy-to-read format in

which to assess customer sentiment. Long-term, the client is put first in company

choices thanks to these streamlined procedures made possible by QR code analytics.

Given that students may utilize the QR codes for the whole academic year after

printing them, the QR code is an economical option. It also can't be printed as long as

the students have a copy on their phones. Upon scanning the QR codes, the mistake

percentage will decrease since the students' names are pre-encoded in the files.

Another advantage over manual attendance monitoring is the accuracy of the QR

code's timing.

As mentioned by Becker in 1998, carried out a research on how 2,500

instructors from public and private schools in the US used the Internet. 90% of the

instructors had access to the Internet, according to the survey. 59% of the instructors

who responded said they have access to the Internet at home. The majority of

instructors (68%) looked for information resources online in order to prepare for their

lessons. Sixty-two percent (62%) of the instructors who responded said they found

sources of knowledge using Internet search engines. Teachers can benefit immensely

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
from the internet, according Becker's study. Due to the many advantages the internet

can provide for both teachers and pupils, it will be very beneficial. Due to its

everyday use, it is quite uncommon for instructors, schools, or even homes to lose

internet access.

The researcher will develop the Attendance Tracking System with the use of

QR Code to create a program to easily check the students Attendance. The researchers

will create the program to record the Attendees of students in class.

The researchers are progressing to develop a website that will enable teachers

to quickly verify their pupils' attendance. This is to prevent checks from taking up a

lot of class time. The QR Code, which has developed into a cutting-edge instrument in

today's contemporary instruction, will be utilized to verify.

Students can benefit greatly from QR Codes and BarCodes because of how

rapidly they can be completed because of technological advancements. Students can

use their QR codes for a year or the entire school year, so there's no need to switch out

the paper used to check attendance. Teachers will find it quite useful as well, as it is

simply a smartphone scan that can be downloaded.

The number of people utilizing cellphones has increased in tandem with

population expansion. In spite of this, modern technology is more widely used and

easier to understand by the general public. Teachers will find the Provided QR Code

or website quite beneficial due to its quick attendance check and more secure data.

Teachers will be less likely to misplace their record book because they can access it

more quickly on laptops or smartphones.

Statement of the Problem

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
This study aims to develop an Attendance Tracking System using Qr code in

Magpapalayok National High School. This would enhance the Attendance Tracking

System of the school. The Automated Attendance Tracking System has numerous

effects on the school. This is since it saves teachers time when verifying attendance.

Students' data will be faster and more secure due to the Attendance Tracking System's

use of QR codes because it won't be lost and they can view it quickly on the website.

Given that it is user-friendly, teachers will find it easier to track attendance and the

data is more secure.

With this, the study seeks to answer the following research questions:

1. How may the respondents demographic profile be described in terms of:

1.1. age;

1.2. sex; and

1.3. grade level?

2. How may the respondents describe the developed Attendance Tracking

System using QR (Quick Response) code in terms of:

2.1. accessibility;

2.2. efficiency; and

2.3. accuracy?

Significance of the Study

The researchers’ study aims to know the attendance tracking system using Qr

Code. Since researchers have the conceptual framework that contains the variables of

our study that examined in the investigation, Other relevant studies is used to support

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
this one and benefit future research and other schools. This theory can add to our

knowledge about the attendance tracking system using Qr Code.

Academic significance underlies this work. The information provided to the

students on this subject may encourage them to use the attendance tracking system.

Future researchers might complete the gap left by the recent study and broaden their

perspectives on the topic. They might also have an idea of the things that draw people

use Qr Code in the attendance tracking system. Additionally, they will be assisted by

this study in providing a framework and literature to back up their academic paper.

In conclusion, the Qr Code in the attendance tracking system plays a

significant role in the lives of many people. By understanding and leveraging these

factors, different schools, or even companies in the algorithm can create a more

meaningful and memorable customer experience and accesibility that fosters

accuracy, loyalty and drives business to success.

Teachers are the main beneficiaries of the system or innovation. They will

have a new way to check the attendance of their students. They will no longer rely on

their student secretary who may be absent from class. Due to illness or there may be

an innovative event at school. The system will be worry and hassle-free for teachers

because it is easy and quick to use.

Students more secured data that will be gathered from the qr code. The

students record will be kept. In case that the emergency happens the school had a

record. The system will also be more worry and hassle free for the students in a way

that they will no longer raise their hands and say present when they are called by their

teacher.

Figure 1. Research Paradigm

The figure above shows the conceptual framework of the study. Using an

Input, Process, and Output model, the study will develop a Attendance Tracking

System using QR code that will be used by SP-ICT students for attendance checking.

To measure its effectiveness, the study seeks to determine the demographic

profile of the students particularly their age, sex, and grade level; and the program’s

accessibility, efficiency and accuracy.

This will enable the researchers to describe the developed innovation of the

study.

Scopes and Limitations

The study focuses on developing an attendance tracking system utilizing QR

codes for Magpapalayok National High School's educational resources. In order to

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
identify, questionnaires will be used to collect data on the respondents' demographic

profile and a description of the Attendance Tracking System that was constructed.

This study will be limited only to descriptive data on the demographic profile

and likert scale. An further limitation is the restricted quantity of students who will be

evaluating the Attendance Tracking System. The study's sample size will be restricted

to SP-ICT students exclusively, with a total of 87 respondents chosen by a total

sampling method. Thus, innovation is only used sparingly to check for potential issues

with the system. This is to allow the researchers to check for errors in the system that

will be utilized by a chosen group of students. One of the goals of innovation pilot

testing is to ensure that, in the event of a mistake, the impact on the issue or error will

be limited. The system will only be conducted this school year.

In order to obtain accurate and legitimate data, the researchers selected the

students enrolled in the special program. The researchers used the assumption that the

students in the special program were familiar with modern technology and the new

educational tools being deployed. They were picked as a result of their participation in

the school's distinct ICT program and their appropriate familiarity with contemporary

tools and technology.

Weighted mean and percentage were used in the data processing to arrange the

findings that will be obtained using the research tool. Only the evaluation of the

created Attendance Tracking System will be the subject of this study. The study will

address further potential issues with learning resources.

Definition of Terms

The following terms often used in the entire course of the study. They are

technically defined:

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
Google Forms – is an internet tool that you can use to make quizzes and

surveys for free. Google Documents, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and other

web tools are available on this page ( 2021, Abigail Abesamis Demarest )

Google Sheet – is a spreadsheet program available for free on the web, which

is part of Google Drive. There are mobile versions of the software for

Android, Windows, iOS, and Ios in addition to a desktop version for Chrome

OS. Google Drive serves as a host for more Google products, including

Forms, Slides, and Documents ( CFI – Corporate Finance Institute )

Scanner – is a device that captures images from photographic prints, posters,

magazine pages and similar sources for computer editing and display.

Scanners work by converting the image on the document into digital

information that can be stored on a computer through optical character

recognition (OCR). This process is done by a scanning head, which uses one

or more sensors to capture the image as light or electrical charges. The

document scanner moves either the physical document or the scanning head,

depending on the type of scanner. Then, the scanner processes the scanned

image and produces a digital image that can be stored on a computer. Scanners

usually attach to a computer system and come with scanning software

applications that let you resize and otherwise modify a captured image. If a

printer is hooked up to the computer, you could print a second hard copy of

the scanned image and store it in digital format.(Katie Terrell Hanna)

Chapter II
METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The study made use of descriptive research design, which according to Shona

McCombes(2019) The goal of descriptive research is to precisely and methodically

characterize a population, circumstance, or phenomena. It can respond to inquiries

about what, where, when, and how, but not why. Numerous research techniques can

be applied in a descriptive research design to examine one or more variables. In

contrast to experimental research, here the variables are merely observed and

measured; no controls or manipulations are made. Aggarwal & Ranganathan (2019)

stated that the most basic methodology is the descriptive one, which enables the

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
researcher to explain one or more variables without assuming any causal relationships

or hypotheses. The researchers conducting the research considered this method was

the best option for implementing in the analysis and interpretation of the data gathered

because it deals with the relationship to actual circumstances, practices that appear to

be common, beliefs and processes that are in motion, effects that are being noticed, or

emerging trends.

In this study, the researcher will gather the demographic profile of the

respondents and their assessments on the developed system, which are all quantitative

in nature and describe the innovation and its accessibility, efficiency and accuracy.

Since they needed numerical data to describe in their Statement of the Problems

number two, the researchers employed a quantitative descriptive research approach.

Research Locale

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
Figure 2. Magpapalayok National High School

The research will be conducted at Magpapalayok National High School, San

Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

Magpapalayok National Highschool is located at Villaroman St.

Magpapalayok San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija; having 21 JHS Teachers 9 SHS Teachers,

and non-teaching personnel.

The researchers have chosen the place of implementation because it will

provide the researchers with the necessary information, and it is convenient for them.

Respondents of the Study

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
Students from Magpapalayok National High School's Special Program will be

the study's responders. Because they were enrolled in the school's Special Program,

the researchers chose them to be the study's responders with the assumption that they

could utilize and comprehend the innovation with ease. Additionally, one of the

researchers was interested in finding out the respondents' grade level. This is to

demonstrate in the research that students in the school's Special Program have a

greater understanding of modern technology.

The entire population that the researchers have among their respondents,

calculated using Slovin's formula, is 87 students, or 100%. 14% are from SP-ICT

Grade 10-Zoom, with 16 students, whereas 36% are from Grade 7-Ai, with 40

students; 31% are from Grade 8-Wakelet, with 34 students; and 19% are from Grade

9-Canva, with 21 students.

The researchers utilize a calculation; they multiplied the percentage they

obtained from the GAP method by the total number of respondents—87 in this case—

for the study. 12 respondents in Grade 10 (Zoom), 17 in Grade 9 (Canva), 27 in Grade

8 (Wakelet), and 31 in Grade 7 (Ai) provided the researchers with the answer.

Sampling Method

The study made use of Stratified Random Sampling Method, which according

to Mcleod, 2019 is a sampling method that is used by identifying the respondents

based on a strata which in this study are the SP-ICT students.

The section of the students will be considered as the strata and the number of

samples will be determined using Slovin’s formula with a margin of 0.05. The

number of actual respondents per each section will be determined based on their

percentage on the total population.

PAGE \* MERGEFORMAT 7
Research Instruments

The objective of the study is to streamline and innovate the process of

verifying attendance. The innovation will be more user-friendly and make the process

faster and easier for users to utilize. It will be cost-effective for teachers, thus they

will not have to spend money on paper or record books.

The researchers developed and employed questionnaires that ask about the

demographic profile of study participants as well as how to best characterize

innovation in terms of accessibility, efficiency, and accuracy in order to collect the

data they need. A Likert scale that measures the degree of assessment on the

developed system.

Validity

The researchers made sure that the instrument's statements matched the study

topic in order to guarantee the validity of the research surveys. The researchers sought

the advice of their research teacher to confirm that the instruments are approved for

administration after making sure the instruments matched the research questions.

Each question's references to publications and studies contributed to confirming the

veracity of the findings.

Reliability Test

For the reliability test, the researchers will make use of Cronbach Alpha

through Statistical Package for the Special Sciences (SPSS) to ensure that the

reliability of the instrument is at least a = 0.7. Respondents of the study no. of

respondents - 87 who are the respondents - SP-ICT Students.

The researchers developed Attendance Tracking System using QR code. This

can be used to check the attendance of the students.

To develop the system, the researchers made use of Binary eye, Google Drive,

Google Form, Google Sheet, and Google Site.

BINARY EYE

Binary Eye is a highly rated open source barcode and QR code reader for any

devices. This application supports generating codes as well.

The picture demonstrates how the researchers utilize Binary Eye as an

application to scan the QR codes of the students that is compatible with all devices

and is simple to use. It is recommended to use this application to scan QR codes

because it works with all devices and just requires one click to open the link.

Google Form

One of the free online tools in Google's suite of document editors is Google

Form, which is used for administering surveys. This site supports for creating digital

question to answer online.

The image above illustrates how to utilize Google Forms. First, the

researchers added the students' names that are visible in the first image. Next, the

number of answers from the students who are present is displayed.

Google Sheets

Google Sheet is a spreadsheet program that comes with the company's free

online Google Docs Editors package. Additionally, this page can be looped and coded

to facilitate encoding the names of the students.

The researchers use google sheet to generate the QR code for each student in

each portion, first enter the names of the students in the chosen section and then add

the codes we obtained from the YouTube instruction. The currently active time

stamps are displayed on the Google Sheets (Responses).

Google Site

Google Site is a structured wiki and web page creation tool included as part of

the free, web-based Google Docs Editors suite offered by Google. This is used for

creating sites or a basic website builders.

The researchers create a Google Site web page so that teachers can simply

view their students' attendance records, get in touch with us, and learn how to use.

This site also helps in providing the researchers' contact information in case of errors

or suggestions.

Data Gathering Procedures

The study aims to describe the developed system that the study aims to

simplify and innovate the process of certifying attendance. The innovation will be

more user-friendly, speed the process, and make it easier for users to utilize. Teachers

will save money by not having to purchase paper or record books.

Before floating the questionnaires, the researchers will seek the approval and

authorization of the head teacher and school principal of Magpapalayok National

High School for the administration of the study. After this, they are going to proceed

to the perspective respondents of the study.

The researchers will first inform the participants about the study. After this,

the researchers are going to show the innovation to them to let them try the

Attendance Tracking System.

After trying the developed system, a questionnaire is going to be given to each

of them. They will not be given a time limit since they are going to assess the

innovation. After conducting the development Attendance Tracking System using QR

code and presenting it to the respondents, the researchers will float the questionnaire

for the respondents to accomplish and evaluate the output of the study.

Data Analysis

To analyze the data that will be gathered through questionnaires, the study will

make use of the following statistical tools:

Percentage and Frequency- this statistical tools will be used in analyzing the

demographic profile of the respondents, and the technical specification of the system.

This formula is a follow:

Weighted Mean- this will be used to determine the accessibility, efficiency and

accuracy.

This formula is as follow:

Verbal Interpretation- To interpret the weighted mean of the responses of the

respondents, the data will be interpreted using the formula below:
