As a learner, it is important that you increase


your vocabulary skills. One of these ways is the use of
Homonyms.
• Homonyms are words that have the same
pronunciation (and sometimes spelling) but have
different meanings.

Example: Read and analyze the sentence.

1. sun – son

Sun always rises from the East.

His son is handsome.

Explanation:
sun – son are homonyms. They have different spelling
but have the same pronunciation and different
meanings.
2. bat – bat

The bat only flies at night.

He hit the ball with his baseball bat.

Explanation:
bat – bat are homonyms. They have the same spelling
and pronunciation but different meanings.
