Creative play into a story: If your children have created a make-believe world with their dolls or toys, ask them to
write down a story based on this world. Get them to think about doing this when you see them actually in the middle
of their creative play so they can try to remember the details. They can also write biographies based on each toy's
life: where they were born, where they live, who their parents are, who they are married to, who their children are,
who their best friends are, what they like to do, etc. The best way to get children excited about writing is to have
them practice it often. Do not point out misspellings, incomplete sentences, missing words, bad grammar, or poor
handwriting, which at this stage is the part of the learning process. Focus instead on the content of the writing and
any attempts at descriptive writing.

Adults who work with children are constantly “on” as role models.
None of us can be perfect, so being a perfect child care-provider or parent is out of the question. Still, we can all learn
from our mistakes or the mistakes of others. We can anticipate our strengths and weaknesses and attempt to limit or
work around them. These value oriented stories are good models for children to read and experience. Young children
cannot understand the complex thinking of an adult, but they can catch pieces of what we do and say, and these pieces
can become the single concept that helps a child learn.

The Value of the Arts in the early year schooling:
Creative Arts is an integral part of every early childhood programme. Arts experiences in school
not only contribute to children's artistic and creative development but also to a wide range of skills
in other areas, including perceptual, cognitive, language and social skills.
Artistic development in High Scope classrooms focuses on the five areas identified in High
Scope's key developmental indicators (KDIs) for creative arts. A brief summary of each area
follows:
KDIs in Creative Arts
Art: Children express and represent what they observe, think, imagine, and feel through
two- and three-dimensional art.
Music: Children express and represent what they observe, think, imagine, and feel
through music.
Movement: Children express and represent what they observe, think,
imagine, and feel through movement.
Pretend play: Children express and represent what they observe,
think, imagine, and feel through pretend play.
Appreciating the arts: Children appreciate the creative arts.
Milestones for a child’s social and emotional skills, and note how your child is doing in each area:
Can correctly state his gender and age.
Can recite her first and last names, and the names of parents.
Takes care of his own needs, such as washing hands and dressing.
Enjoys helping with household tasks.

HANDS ON ACTIVITY:
A) Pollution affects the food we eat-
Air pollution causes acid rain. As the air is polluted, rain water also
gets polluted when it passes through the polluted air. Polluted rain is
called acid rain.
Here's a simple Earth Day project that demonstrates how pollution
affects the soil and plants—and therefore our food supply.
First, begin by planting three identical bean seeds in three identical containers which have
wet soil.
Watch them grow a little every day.
When the plants are a couple of inches high, begin the next part of the experiment.
Take 3 jars of equal size.
In the first jar, put ½ cup lemon juice. Label its lid #1.
In the second jar, mix ¼ cup water and ¼ cup lemon juice. Label this jar's lid #2.
In the third jar, put only ½ cup water. Label its lid #3
Water first plant with the liquid that's in jar #1. Water second plant with the liquid in jar #2.
Water the third plant with the water in jar #3.

Kaleidoscope of patterns all around me.
On your visit to the parks or other such places, collect various items such as dried leaves and flowers, feathers, seeds, ice cream sticks.
You can also collect stickers, bottle caps, buttons etc. Using these items, design any five patterns of your choice. Paste these patterns in
the scrap book. One such example for patterns has been given for you.
