Standard ROI
1. Click [Standard ROI] on the soft menu.
2. When the trackball positions the image display cursor over the reference image(s), an
elliptical ROI is automatically generated and displays on the reference image(s).
The average intensity value inside the ellipse is calculated for every image in the
image analysis range and plotted in the image display area.
The ROI height, width and angle can be adjusted by [Std.Height], [Std.Width] and
[Std.Angle] on the soft menu.
3. The last generated or selected ellipse is considered the active ROI, and its trace plot
automatically updates as the user repositions it on the reference image. Old traces
are erased.
4. When scanning with an elliptical ROI, press <Set> to fix the ROI position and freeze
its corresponding trace on the plot. A new active ROI is generated whose position is
manipulated by the trackball and whose analysis curve traces will be plotted as before,
while the previous ROI and trace remain fixed at the points where they were saved at.
Freehand ROI
1. Click [Freehand ROI] on the soft menu, when the cursor is evolved in the image
review area (TVI image review window or 2D image review window), it displays as a
color-coded ellipse.
2. Review the image to a desired frame.
3. Use the trackball to position the caliper on the reference image at the start point.
Press <Set> to fix the start point.
4. Trace the outline of the desired ROI by moving the cursor with the trackball.
5. Press and hold <Set>, and roll the trackball to depict the ROI. When a suitable ROI
has been drawn, confirm the ROI by double clicking <Set>, press <Clear> to cancel
the last point. The system will update the graphics and the data as well.
The system automatically links the start point to the end point by drawing a straight line
between them. The caliper is then free for repositioning for another freehand ROI.
You cannot go outside the image boundary when drawing a freehand ROI.
Delete ROI
Press <Clear> to clear out the last ROI; click [Delete All] on the soft menu to clear out
all ROIs.
The corresponding traces for the deleted ROIs are erased from the plot.
Deleting an ROI causes the ROIs to be deleted from all frames in the analysis loop.
Tips:
The saved ROIs can be a mixture of elliptical and freehand ROIs.
Hide/Show
Click [Hide] or [Show] on the soft menu to hide or display the analysis curve area.

Reset ROI
Function
Reset ROI is to reset the region of interest to re-render the 3D image.
It’s performed on frozen images.
NOTE: 1. Resetting ROI is not to re-capture images but to re-render 3D image with the
image data acquired already. Usually, if the ROI set before capture is not the
optimal one (e.g. the one contains the largest fetal face section area), you
can reset it to improve the 3D imaging effect.
2. Resetting ROI cannot improve 3D image with a bad imaging condition, such
as the un-optimal fetal posture s or lack of amniotic fluid, etc.

discolored, or in a way appear abnormal during use,
charging or storage, immediately remove them and stop
using them.
15.1 Overview
The battery charges when the system is connected to the AC power supply.
Generally, if the system is turned off, a completely discharged battery will fully
charge in 2 to 3 hours; or generally a battery has been charged for 2 hours, it can
restore the quality of electric charge to above 95%.
NOTE: It is recommended to charge the batteries when the system is turned off, thus
you can quickly charge the batteries and save time.
When the external power supply is not connected, two lithium-ion batteries will provide the
power.
The model of the chargeable lithium-ion batteries (hereinafter called batteries for short) is
LI23I001A.
Batteries 15-1
NOTE: 1. Only use the specified batteries.
2. If there is only one battery in the system, it cannot supply power and cannot
be charged.
3. Replace both batteries at the same time.
4. Charge the batteries periodically if they have not been used for a long
period of time. Otherwise, the performance of the batteries is degraded.
15.2 Precautions
1. Before using the batteries, carefully read the description in the label on the surface of
the batteries.
2. When you use the batteries at the first time and find that they are dirty or emit an odor,
do not use them.
3. Do not expose the batteries to heat sources or high pressure.
4. Do not leave the batteries in direct sunlight.
5. Store the batteries out of the reach of children.
6. The batteries are designed to be charged only in this system; charge the batteries
only when the ambient temperature is between 0 and 40℃.
7. When the batteries are out of power, please charge them immediately.
8. When the batteries will not be used for 10 days or over, take them out of the system
and store the batteries with caution. DO NOT wrap them with conductive material;
store them in shady, cool and dry place.
9. Do not knock the batteries.
15-2 Batteries
To remove the batteries:
1. Turn off the system, and disconnect the adapter from the main unit.
2. Close the monitor, turn the system upside down and put it on the table.
3. Push the buckles located between the two bays to unlock the batteries.
4. Take out the batteries from the bays.

15.6 Checking Battery Performance
The battery performance may be degraded over time, so you need to check the battery
performance periodically. The checking procedures are shown as follows:
1. Stop the ultrasound exam.
2. Connect the system to the AC power supply to charge the batteries until current
capacity is full.
3. Disconnect the system from the AC power supply to power the system by the
batteries until the system automatically shuts down.
4. The powering time of the batteries indicates the battery performance.
If the powering time of the battery is much shorter than that specified, you may replace the
battery or contact the service personnel.
NOTE: The usage life of the battery is 300 charge / discharge cycles. If the battery is
improperly used, its life may be shortened.

16 Acoustic Output
This section of the operator’s manual applies to the overall system including the main unit,
probes, accessories and peripherals. This section contains important safety information
for operators of the device, pertaining to acoustic output and how to control Animal
exposure through use of the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle. Also this
section contains information regarding the acoustic output testing and the real-time output
display.
Read this information carefully before using the system.
MI = Pr,
fawf CMI
For the frequency 1 MHz and the peak-rarefactional acoustic pressure 1 MPa, MI
becomes 1.It is possible to think MI to be one threshold of the cavitations generation.
Especially, it is important to keep MI value to be low when both gases and the soft tissues
exist together, for such as lung exposure in cardiac scanning and bowel gas in abdominal
scanning.
TI (Thermal Index):
TI is determined by the ratio of the total acoustic power to the acoustic power required
to raise the tissue temperature by 1 degree C. In addition, because the temperature
rises is greatly different according to tissue structures, TI is divided three kinds: TIS
(Soft-tissue Thermal Index), TIB (Bone Thermal Index) and TIC (Cranial-bone
Thermal Index).
TIS: Thermal index related to soft tissues, such as abdominal and cardiac
applications.
