1. SUMMARY OF THE OBJECTIVE
This document explains the safe, sequential Step OF Boiler preparation for hot startup.
.
2. SCOPE
This SOP is applicable for Recommendation or any improvement in the Operation of the equipment.
SAFTEY PPE’s TO BE USED:
Safety helmet
Safety shoes
Safety goggles
Apron
SAFTEY PRECAUTIONS:
 Ensure all PPE’s are followed.
 Visitor should not move either then there work area.
 Keep the area clean and free from obstruction.
 Use proper size gloves and fire proof jacket.
 Don't touch any equipment.
 Don’t enter work area.
 Don’t enter barricading area.
 Follow the SOP as per OEM.

Operation Activities

PROCEDURE
1 Check the cooling tower forbey level is normal
2 Ensure the feeder is normalized and push button released
condition
3 Check the suction valve is open condition
4 Check the discharge valve is closed condition
5 Priming the pump till the water venting continuously
6 If recirculation is provided open the recirculation valve

7 Start the pump in local/remote mode
8 To check the current ,vibration , pressure , ∆p and bearing

temp
9 If all the parameters are normal open the discharge valve
gradually and open the line vents to release the airlock
10 After the airlock is released close all the vents
11 Adjust the discharge valve to maintain the header pressure
3.4 kg/cm2
12 Record the pressure, vibration, current and bearing temp
B AUTO MODE SELECTION

1 Check the stand by pump suction and discharge valves are
open
2 Ensure the standby pump feeder normalized condition
3 All the parameters of the running pump is normal select the
standby pump in auto mode
C PUMP CHANGEOVER PROCEDURE
1 change the standby pump in auto mode to manual mode
2 check the standby pump suction valve open and discharge
valve close condition
3 start the standby pump in remote / local mode
4 open the discharge valve gradually
5 check the pressure, current, vibration and bearing temp
6 If all the parameters are normal close the previous running
pump discharge valve.
7 If the cooling water header pressure maintain normal stop the

pump
8 After the pump got stopped open the standby pump discharge
valve and select the standby pump in auto mode from manual
mode
D ACW PUMP STOP PROCEDURE
1 Both the ACW pump can be stopped, if the following axillaries
are should be stopped/isolated
1. Compressor 2.BFP 3.Generator cooler 4.Oil cooler 5.
Sample cooler 6.DCS server off condition (based
on situation) 7. A/C unit 6.
2 Ensure the above mentioned auxiliaries are stopped /isolated
close the pump discharge valve and stop the pump
E ACW PUMP ISOLATION PROCEDURE
1 Ensure the ACW pump stopped condition
2 Check the feeder was isolated and LOTO applied
3 Close the suction and discharge valve
4 Open the pump drain valve
