Toyotas production system reflects its commitment to totally quality management process which is Lean production; it is practice of continuous improvement by every worker at all levels of production. Creative suggestion based motto in Toyota is Good Thinking, Good Products which is aligned to management system of Toyota for change and improvement at all levels of their manufacturing and services. Focus on stakeholders and customers internal & external In Toyota stakeholders and customers have value and respect and are always appreciated for their efforts and it uses games, competitions and cultural events to promote its 3Cs Creativity, challenge and courage Quality at all levels of the work force and participation and teamwork and Continuous improvement of the production/business process. Lean Production is the continues improvement by every worker at toyota and errors and defects are viewed as learning opportunities to remove waste and improve efficiency. In 2000, more than 65000 suggestions were submitted by employees and 99 percent were adopted by Toyotaand Toyota has direct monitoring system that supports quality, french plant is monitored by headquaters at Japan.

Learn the New Philosophy In 2000, suggestion were submitted by employees around 65000 and 99 percent were adopted at Toyota. It arranges activity to promote their 3Cs creativity , challenge and courage. Understand Inspection Toyota has direct monitoring system so that toyotas French plant is connected through broadband system so that their data and performance can be monitor at Japan. At Toyota top and middle managers are well-known for getting their hands dirty by helping workers on the production line. This point relates to the first basic point of TQM that is Management commitment to TQM principles and methods & long term quality plans for the Organization: support for TQM must be at the highest level of management. : The priority in receiving benefits from automobile sales should be in the order of the customer, then the car dealer, and lastly the maker. This point relates to focusing on stakeholders and customers internal & external: Customer/client requirements should be considered as the top priority, and it is important to always remember that it is the customer who defines what quality is. Keep the customer satisfied at all times. The first principle of Deming is also reflected in the guiding principles for Toyota. Create constancy of purpose for continual improvement of products and service to society, allocating resources to provide for long range needs rather than only short term profitability, with a plan to become competitive, to stay in business, and to provide jobs. So in the end it can be said that Toyotas guiding principles and the production system was a true reflection of total quality and Toyota is very keen to develop skills for their workforce and incourage them bring new ideas for change and quality improvments.
What can nonmanufacturing companies learn and apply from Toyotas philosophy and practices? Suggest specific things that education and government might learn. Non manufacturing companies must learn that quality is conituously process and it must be focus at every stage operations. There is a lot for the education and government sector to learn from
Toyotas philosophy and practices. The concept of continuous improvement, long term approach, creation of a vision, commitment from the top most authorities, mutual co-operation amongst the students, teachers and parents in case of education and mutual co-operation amongst the different sectors in case of government, providing training to the teachers, primarily focusing on providing the best education and serving the citizens most appropriately in case of education and government respectively, encouraging team work, service to society, using the feedback system, involving the teachers, parents and students altogether to achieve the purpose of providing the best education, concept of self-improvement and personal development, all of these concepts from Toyota can be helpful to the non manufacturing companies like education and government. Using the framework of quality in school districts, roadmaps for continuous improvement can be designed. When educators understand what continuous improvement is all about, they gain confidence that they can shape and alter the nature of their schools. Thus change is possible. make available apparent learning targets in student friendly language give examples of strong and weak work exercise strategies that allow all students to be successful in the first lesson
In todays monetary and political climate, government must find ways to dapper costs and deal with cash-flow while continuing to deliver excellent customer service. Elected officials are challenging their departments to increase efficiency, prevent errors and provide their constituents with more value for their taxation but after applying Toyotas philosophy to the government the concept of optimizing the efforts of team and synergizing breaks down barriers between departments and staff areas. People in different departments must work in teams to tackle problems.
