Abstract
This project aims to design and develop a mono-axis solar panel tracker that enhances the
efficiency of solar energy capture. The tracker will be designed to optimize panel orientation
along a single axis, providing a cost-effective solution for residential and small-scale commercial
applications. The project will evaluate the performance of the tracker in various environmental
conditions and compare its efficiency to fixed installations.
Introduction
Solar energy is a promising alternative to fossil fuels, but its efficiency is limited by the angle of
incident sunlight. Fixed solar panel installations do not account for the sun's movement, resulting
in significant energy losses. This project proposes a mono-axis solar panel tracker to enhance
energy capture and provide a cost-effective solution.
Problem Statement
Fixed solar panel installations suffer from reduced efficiency due to suboptimal orientation. The
problem is to design a mono-axis tracker that optimizes panel orientation along a single axis,
enhancing energy capture while minimizing costs.
Literature Review
Studies have shown that solar tracking systems can increase energy output by up to 30%
compared to fixed installations. Mono-axis trackers offer a balanced trade-off between
complexity, cost, and efficiency gains. Existing solutions have limitations in terms of cost,
maintenance, and aesthetics.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this project proposes a mono-axis solar panel tracker that enhances the efficiency
of solar energy capture. The tracker will be designed to optimize panel orientation along a single
axis, providing a cost-effective solution for residential and small-scale commercial applications.
The project's outcomes will contribute to the broader goal of making solar energy more viable
and accessible.
