    Ref: Letter of even no. dated 13-05-2023 to principar chief Engineers


    of a[
    Zonal Railways.

    As per retter under reference, track renewar/ track maintenance works are
    to be
    undertaken under rong term service contracts. one of the issues raised
    by the Rairways was
    regarding avairabirity of adequate sanctions for a rong period, to support
    these conrracis.
    Railways may note that, track renewar/ track maintenance works
    are a regurar,
    mandatory activity, in the interest of safety and sanctions are issued
    annua[y acro-ss alr
    Zonar rairways. Hence Rairways may proceed with caling tenders
    and awarding contracts.
    The expenditure shal be booked in the sanctioned *ork= on proportionate
    basis as per
    kilometres sanctioned and work executed. Sanctions for barance
    kirometres wi[ be made
    available in subsequent years through regurar sanction of track
    renewar works. Zonal
    Railways are advised to take necessary action accordingly.

    This issues with the concurrence of finance directorate of Ministry


    of Railways.
