    CLASS - XI

    MUSIC – INSTRUMENTAL
    2024-2025
    SYLLABUS (THEORY)
    PART-A
    1. Definitions:-
    Sangeet, Dhvani, Alankar, Taal, Jhala, Aroh, Avroh, Pakar, Alaap, Toras.
    2. Different bools of mijrab:- Akarsh prahar, Apakarsh prahar,
    3. Vadi Swar, Samvadi swar, Anuvadiswar, Vivadi Swar, Varjit swar.
    4. Life sketches:-
    (i) Pt: Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande.
    (ii) Sri Narinder Narula.
    5. Classified the India music Instruments:- Tutt vad, sushir vad, Avnad vad,
    Ghan vad.
    6. My favourite subject Music.
    7. Knowledge of music instrument:- Sitar, History and their body parts.
    8. Naad, definition and types.
    9. Gat:-Maseet Khani gat, Rajakhani gat

    PAPER – B
    PRACTICAL (MUSIC INSTRUMENTAL)
    STRUCTURE OF QUESTION PAPER
    There should not be more than 9 (nine) students in a batch of a practical
    examination. The question paper will set by the examiner on the spot, while
    setting the question paper in practical, the examiner must consider the
    syllabus in theory and will follow the following instructions.

    1. Demonstration/performance of any one Raag out of the prescribed syllabus. The


    choice of the Raag will be done by the student. It will be for 6 minutes.

    2. Demonstration/performance of one Raag out of the prescribed syllabus. The choice


    of the Raag will be of the examiner. It will be for 4 minutes.

    3. Demonstration of Taals in Ekgun and Dugun layakaries by hand. It will be for 4


    minutes.

    4. Recognition of one Taal and one Raag out of the prescribed syllabus. It will be for 2
    minutes.

    5. Demonstration regarding Alankaar/dhun/ national anthem. It will also be for 4


    minutes.
    SYLLABUS (PRACTICAL)
    (a) Alankars in kalayan and Bilaval Thaats.

    (b) Maseet Khani gat and Raja Khani gat with description, alap toras in following raags.
    (1) Kalayan raag (2) Allhayia Bilawal
    (3) Varinda Vani Sarang.
    (c) Capability to demastrate the following taals with bols and matras by hand. In ikgun
    and dugun layakaries.
    (1) Dadra Taal (2) Teen Taal (3) Jhap Taal (4) Char Taal
    (d) Dhun in Kalayan rag and Varinda Vani Sarang raag.
    (e) National Anthem, rules notation.
