Kotak - IIT Madras Save Energy Mission (KISEM)

 About IEAC

IIT Madras with its motto - “be of research and technological service to the nation”, established the Industrial Energy Assessment Cell
(IEAC) in the year 2018 for energy assessment in industries. It is largely modelled along the successful DOE program in the USA that has
been operational for several years. The activities commenced with the focus on industries in Tamil Nadu and now operating PAN INDIA.

The Energy Assessment and Sustainability study work, being performed by this team, has the objective to identify, evaluate, and
recommend – through analyses of industrial plant operations – opportunities to conserve energy, minimize waste, and reduce the
overall cost of operations. The recommendations will be based upon observations made and measurements taken at the plant during
the assessment and taking into account all the details furnished by the customer.

Kotak - IIT Madras Save Energy Mission (KISEM)

Kotak Mahindra Bank under CSR initiative, have collaborated with IEAC IIT Madras for
a national level sustainable mission called Kotak – IIT Madras Save Energy Mission
(KISEM). This is primarily to support Micro Small & Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs)
by conducting energy assessment studies to enhance their overall energy efficiency
and carbon footprints. In this regard, IIT Madras being the hub have scaled up project
KISEM across India by establishing IEAC at six other IITs – IIT Bombay, IIT Indore, IIT
Gandhinagar, IIT Ropar, IIT Guwahati and IIT Hyderabad.

IEAC at IIT Madras has developed its own energy assessment software application tool, which is a first of its kind handheld
devices app, through which the entire energy assessment process is digitized by almost nullifying the manual intervention,
and the assessment reports along with the master list of energy conservation measures will be generated and shared to
the customer instantaneously.
