A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 2

(Antonyms)

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of suitable vocabulary used in different
languages for effective communication.
B. Performance Standards The learner uses familiar vocabulary to independently express ideas in speaking
activities.
C. Most Essential Learning Recognize that some words have opposite meaning (antonyms). (EN2V-IIIc-d-13.2)

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

b. identify the opposite word of the given word; and
c. construct their own set of pair of words with opposite meaning.

 Prayer

The teacher calls the names of students to check


the attendance. Students will raise their hand if their names

thing.

Synonyms are set of words which are same in
meaning or almost the same.
Now, if you really understood our lesson yesterday,
I have a short activity here which to be answered by

arrange these puzzles to form an image. The first
group that who can finish the puzzle, will be the
winner.

Excellent observation! Yes, these pair of words are
opposite to each other. Words that have the opposite
meaning are called ANTONYMS and that will be our
lesson for today.

E. Lesson Proper Class, I want you to meet my friend. His name is
Nero. We both like magic just like Harry Potter. Students listen to their teacher.

My friend Nero will help us to unlock the secret world


of “ANTONYMS”.
Are you kids ready? Yes, ma’am.

Again, what are antonyms? Few students raise their hand.


Yes, Joy. Antonyms are words with the opposite
meaning, ma’am.
Good job, Joy.

Remember class, antonyms are set of words with the

Activity 1
Nero and I prepared a short poem for you. The poem
contains set of opposite words and you are going to
identify it. Do you understand? Yes, ma’am.

“Wrong is right
And yes is no
High is Low
And short is tall
Can you reverse
Them all
From big to small?”
Let’s read the poem. Students read the poem.
Excellent, class!

Now, on the first line of the poem, is there any set


of antonyms? Yes, ma’am.

Can you tell me what is it? Wrong and right, ma’am.


How about the second line? Yes and no, ma’am.
How about the third line? High and low, ma’am.
How about the fourth line? Short and tall, ma’am.
How about the fifth line? There’s no set of opposite words in the fifth
line, ma’am.
How about the sixth line? There’s no set of opposite words in the fifth
line, ma’am.
How about the seventh line? Big and small, ma’am.
