Door
The door is a moving mechanism which is more like a barrier
made of wood, stone, metal, glass, paper, leaves, hides, or a
combination of material. Trendy to timeless, understated to
elaborate, the door provides a warm welcome. There is a
sharp contrast between interior and exterior door. A door has
an aesthetic purpose in creating an impression of what lies
beyond.

These doors have its shutter attached to the frame by means of
double action springs. Hence shutter can move both inward and
outward.

Two types of swinging doors are available – one is single-acting

doors which can swing 90° or more in only one direction; and
double-acting doors which can swing 90° or more in each of two
directions.

• single-acting doors or hinged doors are the most common door type,
and is useful in almost any application in which a door is required.

upright sections hanging on a mid shaft and rotates around a vertical axis. It allows a large number of people
to pass in and out only by a gentle push.
A revolving door is called "Door without Draft or Air" because it averts drafts and air pressure. As a result, it is
energy efficient by saving 30% of energy cost. The very first revolving door was installed in a restaurant.
Mostly, it is used in sports stadium, theme park or airport for bypass security.
4.Rolling shutter doors
The door consists frame, drum and a shutter of thin steel plate inter locked together. A horizontal shaft is
provided in the drum which helps to open or close the shutter.

Rolling steel shutter doors are commonly used for warehouses, garages, shops fronts etc..
It’s is advantageous as it does not require much space
These are very strong, durable and they offer proper safety

5- Pivot doors
• Pivot doors are doors that rotate around their own vertical axis.
The pivot points are located at both the top and bottom of the
door. Within the pivot door range, there is the possibility to
choose between a door with or without a stop. A pivot door
without a stop, also called ‘a swinging door’, can be opened in
two directions. The pivot door with a stop, can only be opened in
one direction. The advantage is that these doors cannot slam
hard, which is also ideal for families with children.
6.Collapsible door
Collapsible door is used for the main entrance of the residential buildings, shops, godowns, cinema hall etc.
Collapsible doors are fabricated from mild steel flats or channels and can be opened or closed by slight pull or
push. The arrangement of collapsible doors is made in such a way that, when you open the door, all the strips
are folded together and while you close, the strips are stretched.

1.Panelled doors
These are very strong and will give good appearance
when compared to battened doors. These are the widely
used doors in almost all types of buildings.
Stiles, vertical members and rails, horizontal members are
grooved along the inner edges of frame to receive the
panels.
The panels are made up of timber or plywood or A.C.
sheets or glass.
These doors may be single leaf for narrow openings and
double leaf for wider openings.
Minimum width of stile should be 100mm and minimum
width of bottom and locked rail should be 150mm
2.Flush doors

In flush doors, a solid or semi-solid or core

portion is covered on both sides with plywood or
face veneer. Now a days these type of doors are
widely used because of good appearance,

2.Hollow core and cellular core flush door
2.Flush doors
1. Solid Core or Laminated Core Flush Door
The core part in solid core flush door consists of
core strips of timber which are glued under high
pressure condition. Similarly in the laminated
core, battens of 25mm width are glued under
high pressure.
These doors consists of wooden frame with stiles
and rails for holding the core.
Finally plywood sheets or face veneer and cross-
bands are glued under pressure on both side of
doors
2.Flush doors
2.Hollow core and cellular core flush door
In this case also stiles and rails are provided for
