Facilities: Coal import berths serving the adjacent power station. South Berth is situated at the end of
a 475 m. long pier, East Berth formed of a newly constructed concrete quay. Cargo handling via
2×42 tonne ZPMC rail-mounted gantries/ship unloaders running the length of both berths, and
hoppers and conveyor system to open storage. Unloading capacity 1,500 tonnes/hour per gantry.

Facilities: Crude and petroleum products storage terminal serving the nearby PetroChina refinery.
Dolphin berth located at the end of a 200 m. long pier. Comprises a cargo platform and six linked
dolphins, three each east and west of the platform. Distance between outermost dolphins approx.
300 m. Distance berth to tank farm approx. 300 m. Handles crude, gasoline, kerosene, gas oil, LPG,
triphenyl, polypropylene and sulphur.

Facilities: L-shaped pier, length 600 m., with 36 m. wide platform. Max. length between outermost

oil.

Approaches: A dedicated approach channel has been constructed with length 42.8 km., width up to
320 m. and depth 21.0 m. (CD). The channel is marked by lightbuoys. The channel runs roughly
NNE/SSW between open sea and the berth. There is a 835 m. diameter turning basin, depth 21.0 m.,
off the berth.
Berths: Dolphin berth situated at the end of a 3 km. long pier. Comprises a 51×57 m. cargo platform
and three dolphins each to the north and south of the cargo platform. The berth pocket has width
120 m., depth 24.5 m.
Hoses: 4×16 in. MLA each with capacity 5,000 cu.m./hr. In general, up to three MLAs are used for
cargo transfers with the fourth MLA left on standby.

Gangway: The berth is equipped with a shore gangway.

Local Info
Weather The local climate is humid subtropical with long, hot and humid summers and mild winters. The
annual average min./max. temperatures are 13.4°C/21.9°C with recorded extremes of 1.1°C and
37.5°C. Average summer high is 28.3°C.
From May to August the prevailing winds are from the south, especially during June and July.
Between October and March, the prevailing wind is from the north and these winds tend to be
stronger with a maximum speed of 31 m./s. The transition months are April and September.

Fog can occur at any time of the year, although it is more likely between November to April. On
average, there are 32 days annually when fog occurs, with around 13 of those days with visibility less
than 1,000 m. Fog tends to occur early morning and early evening for up to 3 to 4 hours at a time;
however, fog can last throughout the day.
The tidal pattern is irregular diurnal formed by the influence of geographical conditions and reflection
waves from the Beibu Gulf after the Pacific tide enters the South China Sea. The tide rises and falls
once a day during spring tide and twice during neap tide. Tidal range is 0.6–5.0 m. The tidal current
is faster during the ebb than it is during the flood, with a maximum velocity of around 0.3 to 0.5 m./s.
in the vicinity of Sandun Island just outside Qinzhou Bay.

Developments New fully-automated container terminal under construction to the south of Berth No. 8, Guangxi
Qinzhou Bonded Harbor Area (Dalanping South Operation Zone). The terminal will comprise berths
7–10; berths 7 and 8 currently used for dry bulk cargo handling, and will have a designed annual
throughput of 1.6 million TEU. Berths 9 and 10 are planned to accommodate vessels up to 200,000
d.w.t.
