➢ Placed concrete will be consolidated by mechanical poker vibrator

supplemented by hand-spading, rodding, or tamping.
➢ Vibrator will be vertically withdrawn and inserted in the concrete at
uniformly spaced locations no farther than the visible effectiveness of the
vibrator. Vibrator will be placed in the proceeding concrete layer at least
150 mm
➢ At each insertion, over vibration will be avoided and duration of vibration
will be limited to time necessary to consolidate concrete and complete
embedment of reinforcement and other embedded items without causing
mix to segregate
➢ After adequate time of casting (after surface water sheen has disappeared),
the surface curing will begin by using hessian cloth and potable water to
keep concrete surface wet
➢ Upon achieving the required strength, Shutter shall be removed after
24Hrs.
➢ After removal of shutter any loose concrete or lattice present in the surface
shall be removed by using wire brush and blower and surface of
foundation shall be prepared by using approved repair material
➢ Apply 2coats of bituminous primer over the prepared concrete surface
(external walls) with the help of brush or roller.
➢ Prior to the start of installation works following works shall be carried out
for the foundation trench preparation.
➢ Set out the excavation location as per the approved shop drawing.
➢ Provide barriers and warning signs at suitable locations along the trench
location that is about to be excavated.
➢ Excavate up to the formation level. For deep excavation over 1.5m or
unsuitable soil conditions, proper shoring system should be in. If the
formation level is below the water table, de-watering system will be used
as per a separate method statement.

OCT 2024 Method Statement – Street Light Foundation Work

ROAD WORKS – IMPROVEMENT OF SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD, AL HELIO DISTRICT,

➢ Trench formation shall be free from water, compacted, tested, inspected

and approved
➢ The dimensions, levels and location of the blinding formwork will be
marked on the formation by surveyor as per approved shop drawings.
➢ Polyethylene sheet will be laid on the formation (under the blinding) for
the separation of concrete and soil and to avoid absorption of water from
the concrete by soil.
➢ Before casting concrete, RFA will be submitted for formwork & blinding
works.
➢ Blinding concrete 75mm (as per contract drawings and specifications)
thick, Class C (25/20 SRC) concrete will be poured and finished to a
smooth surface by masons. Concrete will be dropped into place from a
height not exceeding 2m
➢ After adequate time of casting (after surface water sheen has disappeared),
the surface curing will begin by using hessian cloth and potable water to
keep concrete surface wet.
➢ The precast units shall then be transported from precast yard, once the
concrete attains the lifting strength and shall be installed on previously
prepared surface at proper line, level and alignment.
➢ RFA will be submitted for installation of foundation.
➢ Surrounding of street light pole foundation shall be backfilled in 250mm
layer thickness, compacted to a density of 95% of MDD. Backfilling shall
be stopped at duct opening for the foundation and shall not be continued
until the cable for street light poles runs through the conduit to the
foundation top.
➢ Immediately after finishing the cable laying operation, backfilling shall be
continued till the approved grade level.

with the specifications and foundation details mentioned in the approved
shop drawing.
➢ Casting for the piling works shall be done in two stages. In the first stage
the concrete shall be poured 30cm below the bottom of long radius bend.
➢ After attaining sufficient concrete strength. Pile location shall be excavated
with shoring, if required. Any kind of existing nearby services shall be
protected, if required
➢ Pile head shall be chipped and properly prepared, steel properly cleaned
(PVC sleeves shall be provided on the reinforcement prior to stage-1
casting, in order to prevent concrete spillage), 2 no’s PVC electrical
conduits, Anchor bolt with top base plate/ template made using plywood
