KEEP THIS IN MIND

Great! You are on the right track! Now I

know that you are ready to learn our new
concepts for this lesson. Read, understand,
and apply what you have learned from our
previous tasks to these new concepts that you
are about to learn. Have fun learning!

A paragraph is made up of sentences that explain or

present the details of a topic. A good paragraph has
three parts.
1. Topic Sentence

A topic sentence usually comes at the beginning of a

paragraph. It introduces an overall idea that you want to
discuss later in the paragraph. It is also called the main
idea that tells what the paragraph is all about.
2. Body or Supporting Sentence

It is a sentence that supports, explains or tell more

about the idea expressed in the topic sentence.
Paragraphs often have more than two supporting
sentences that give important details and describe topic
sentence for better understanding

3. Concluding Sentence

It is a sentence that summarizes the information which

has been presented. You can think of a concluding
sentence as a sort of topic sentence in reverse.

Remember to observe the following tips in writing a paragraph:

 focus on one topic;

 complete the paragraph with an ending sentence, may be an
idea, a decision, or a conclusion;
 indent the first sentence of the paragraph;
 begin the first word of a sentence with a capital letter; and
 end each sentence with the correct punctuation mark.

Let’s go back to our paragraph earlier. Notice how the first

sentence of the paragraph is written with an indent. Each sentence
also starts in capital letter and ends in a punctuation mark.

other, exchange stories and play with their friends once again. They
