WHAT MAKES PEOPLE DIFFERENT?
People are unique in many ways. They differ from one another due to various factors such as genetics, upbringing,
culture, and living environments. These aspects shape the appearance and personality that make each individual
special.
One of the most obvious differences between individuals is their physical appearance, including weight, height,
facial features, hairstyles, and body shapes. In simple terms, each person has a different shape, size, and skin
color. Some are tall, some are short. Some have long hair while others have short hair. Some have brown
eyes while others have blue eyes. Additionally, some people have dark skin while others have light skin. These
differences contribute to the uniqueness of each person.
Another way in which people differ is in their personality. Behaviors, attitudes, and traits make up a person’s
personality. People have different likes and dislikes. They also respond to situations in various ways. Some are
friendly and helpful while others may be unkind. Some are outgoing and enjoy being around people while
others are more introverted and prefer being alone.
Even though people are different in many ways, it is essential to respect these differences. People should create
a world where everyone feels accepted, regardless of physical appearance or personality.

Stella: I like to talk with him. He is really outgoing and humorous. He’s the one who makes everyone laugh in
class. But sometimes, he can be a bit messy with his stuff.
Daniel: Right! Lisa is quite the opposite. She’s friendly, but she usually keeps to herself and doesn’t talk a lot.
She enjoys spending time alone with her books during breaks.
Stella: But she’s a great student. She always gets top grades.
Daniel: You know Jessica, don’t you?
Stella: Oh, sure. She’s quiet and doesn’t join in many conversations.
Daniel: Yeah, but when you get to know her, she’s very creative and has interesting ideas. She loves painting
and playing the guitar. Besides, she’s also kind to everyone.

4
Stella: Yeah, that’s what I like about her.
Daniel: How about David?
Stella: He always actively participates in group projects and discussions. He loves to express his opinions. He’s
not afraid to speak up, even in front of the whole class.
Daniel: Yeah, you’re right. He can be pretty bossy sometimes, but I guess that’s just his way of being confident.
Stella: Have you seen Michael recently?
Daniel: No, I haven’t. But I heard he’s been really busy.
Stella: You won’t believe it! He’s preparing for the city-level basketball competition.
Daniel: That’s impressive. He’s a reliable player on the team. He’s always there for practice, and his teammates

goes, he always seems to make new friends. Physically, he’s tall, he has short brown hair and stunning blue
eyes. We have so many hobbies and interests in common. We love going on beach trips together, trying out new
restaurants, watching action movies, and playing video games. We understand each other so well. However, he
tends to overthink when making decisions.

different from me in terms of appearance and personality. While I have short curly hair and brown eyes, she
has long straight blonde hair and striking green eyes. She’s super organized. She’s the one who reminds me
about assignments and deadlines. She’s good at math and science, and I help her with English and history
assignments. It’s a perfect balance. On the weekends, we like to go shopping together.
3. Speaker C (Boy)
She’s the most amazing woman I’ve known. She’s been through so much in her life, but she never gives up.
She’s the strongest person I’ve known. She’s also really kind and compassionate. She always puts others before
herself. Her beautiful green eyes sparkle when she smiles. We enjoy spending quality time together, whether
it’s cooking delicious meals, going for long walks, or having a good conversation. Even though she can be a bit

HOW SOUND WAVES TRAVEL?
We hear a variety of sounds every day including the sound of televisions, alarm clocks, birds’ singing, guitars,
human voices, etc. Have you ever wondered how the sound waves travel?
Sound waves: Sound is a type of energy made by vibrations. These vibrations create sound waves which travel
through air, solids, and liquids.
Sound waves travel through air: Sound waves from the birds’ singing will travel slowly through the air. The
particles of air will transmit the sound energy and reach our ears.
Sound waves travel through solids: When you knock on a solid wooden door, the particles in the wood vibrate.
The vibrations make sound waves that travel through the door. When the waves reach the other side of the
door, they make sound waves in the air.
Sound waves travel through liquids: When you ring the bell inside the water, the particles of the water will
vibrate and produce sound waves. Keep your ear on the surface of the water and you will hear the sound. This

FROM OBSTACLES TO CHAMPIONS
Life is like a race with obstacles at every turn. These obstacles can become great achievements or huge failures.
Here are three inspiring athletes sharing their journeys of how they overcame obstacles and achieved success.
Bethany Hamilton - A native of Hawaii began surfing at the age of 7. At the age of 13, a shark attacked her
while she was surfing, resulting in the loss of her left arm. After just 26 days, she recovered from the injury and
was back on her surfboard. At the age of 15, Hamilton won the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA)
Championships. She began competing as a professional surfer a few years later. Today, she is one of the best 50
female surfers in the world. Her incredible journey inspired the movie ‘Soul Surfer’ (2011), starring Anna Sophia
Robb and Dennis Quaid.
Kieran Behan - An artistic gymnast, faced a life-changing situation at the age of 10. After a thigh surgery, he was
never able to walk again. Determined to become an Olympic champion, he spent 15 months in a wheelchair,
suffered from the injury, and then returned to the gym. While he was practicing, he overcame multiple obstacles
that made him wear out, including a severe head injury and broken bones. Despite these challenges, he became
the World Cup Champion on the Floor Exercise in 2011 and qualified for the London 2012 Olympics.
Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time. He had lots of failures in his
career, but they pushed him to try even harder on the court. People didn’t think Michael was talented as a child.
Although he had to leave the basketball team, he worked harder and tried his best to succeed. He experienced
numerous failures when he was playing, including losing 300 games and missing the game-winning shot 26
times, but he didn’t give up. He viewed these failures as opportunities for growth and achieving greatness.
Jordan never let these disappointments discourage him from beating the opponent.

around me cheered loudly. The other team tried to get the ball back, and the cheering got even louder. The
match kept going. Suddenly, the final whistle blew. The match was over, and the referee raised the hand of
the team that made the awesome hit. I felt excited and thrilled. It was the best volleyball moment I have ever
experienced.

Energy metabolism is the process of producing and using energy in your body. Whether you are awake or
sleeping, playing sports, or taking a rest, energy is being transformed inside your cells. You need the energy to
do some basic body functions such as:
• building and fixing your cells
• using your brain
• pumping blood around your body

15
• moving your muscles
• keeping your body temperature constant
• making hormones and enzymes
• breaking down food
Complicated chemicals in your body break down into smaller pieces, and your body gets rid of the leftover
waste. Your body does this through your skin, kidneys, lungs, and intestines to keep your body clean and healthy.
To boost your energy metabolism, you need to take care of your mental and physical health, such as getting
enough sleep, reducing stress, moving more, having a healthy diet, etc.

when crossing the roads. However, it was such an interesting and dynamic city where I spent my days
exploring the city’s rich history, stunning architecture, food, and people here.
2. I’m so excited about our upcoming trip to Viet Nam! We’ll need to pack light clothes because it’s usually
warm there. We can visit beautiful places like Ha Long Bay and the ancient town of Hoi An. We’ll also try
delicious food like Pho and Banh Mi. Remember to bring a camera to capture all the beautiful sights. We
should also learn a few Vietnamese phrases; it could be helpful. I can’t wait to experience the trip!

She was not a fast runner, but she loved running. During the race, Lucy was running at her own pace. She
was not trying to win or enjoying the race. Suddenly, all the other runners started to slow down. They were
tired because they were running too fast at the start. Lucy kept running at the same pace. She passed all the
other runners and won the race! It was surprising!
5. Andy loved basketball. One day, he decided to try out for his school’s team. He was nervous but brave. Andy
showed his talent and got selected for the team. He practiced a lot after school and on weekends. His hard
work paid off when he scored the winning basket in a big game. This taught him about teamwork and never
giving up. Andy’s love for sports grew even more. Now, he is a sportswriter, sharing his love for the game
with others.
6. Sports are really great. They help you stay fit and strong. You can make new friends when you play sports.
It’s fun to be part of a team. You learn to work together. You also learn to never give up. Winning is nice,

TEENAGERS’ VIEWS ON SHOPPING
In the context of globalization, online shopping has become increasingly popular. However, there are still some
people who favor the traditional in-store shopping experience. By exploring the experience of these teenagers
below, we can better understand the advantages and disadvantages of different types of shopping.
Ashley
I find that online shopping is easier than going to the stores. With online shopping, I can easily keep track of my
total costs and remove items from my cart if they exceed my budget. This helps me avoid impulse buys that I
might later regret. Moreover, reading customer reviews on products is as important as seeing advertisements.
It allows me to make informed decisions before making a purchase. Additionally, I can also skip the long lines
and often enjoy free delivery.
Derrek
I engage in both online and in-store shopping, depending on my energy levels. I appreciate the convenience
of online shopping for most purchases, but there are times I prefer to try them out in the stores. For grocery
shopping, I usually prefer going to the stores just because I believe they offer better promotions there. However,
when searching for unique items, I can easily find them on popular e-commerce platforms like Amazon or eBay.
Charlie
I’m not a big fan of online shopping. There’s nothing quite like the experience of being able to pick out the
products and get my hands on them as soon as possible. Even with the fastest delivery option, I still get impatient.
Therefore, online shopping is not as convenient as in-store shopping. By making a list, I can find great deals on
the items I need, and avoid purchasing unnecessary ones.

2. Look at the payment types below. Listen to the podcast and answer the questions.
(Man): Welcome to our podcast! Today, we’ll be discussing part 1 of the most common payment methods in
Viet Nam in a simple and easy way.
Firstly, cash on delivery or COD is a convenient method that allows customers to pay for their purchases
when they receive items. Believe it or not, my father trusts only this method when purchasing online
products because he wants to check the products before paying for them.
Surprisingly, cash remains the first most common payment method in Viet Nam, preferred by many
people due to its familiarity. Although I personally prefer digital transactions, there are times when I also
use cash, such as paying taxes, making purchases in the flea market, paying for public transportation
fares, and so on.
Next, thanks to the increasing use of smartphones, e-wallets have become incredibly popular. Users
can easily and securely make digital payments through their mobile devices. I usually use ZaloPay for
several bills ranging from electricity bill, water bill, and even internet bill. I sometimes use MoMo to
book flight tickets for my travels.
Although considered a traditional method, bank transfers are the second-most common in Viet Nam,
still account for 42% of e-commerce payments in the country.
Last but not least, cards are as the third-most common payment method in e-commerce transactions,
representing 35% of total payments.
And that wraps up our discussion on the popular payment methods in Viet Nam. Stay tuned for more
episodes that we explore the next part of payments. Thank you for joining us today!

using Grab app to book a ride when moving, therefore, I am using the e-wallet named Moca. This is my
favorite payment in recent times.
Megan: Hi, my name is Megan. I live in France, and there aren’t any electronic payment options like e-wallets,
cards, or bank transfers for grocery shopping here. The only way I can pay is with cash. It’s also
convenient for me to keep track of my budget.
Jacob: Hi everyone, my name is Jacob. I am a big fan of traveling and exploring different parts of the world.
I enjoy collecting cash as souvenirs from the places I visit. When it comes to payments, I prefer using
cards. I have a variety of cards, including Visa and Mastercard, which make it convenient for me to pay
for things whenever I go.
Noah: Hi everyone, my name is Noah. I used to use e-wallets when purchasing something online in Viet Nam.
However, I had a bad experience with them. My friends recommend using cash on delivery (COD)
instead. This method allows me to check the quality of products before paying.

AMAZING ANIMALS
In the world of animals, there are many amazing creatures. Let’s explore three of them: The Cheetah, the
Peacock, and the Black Rhino.
Cheetahs are the fastest land mammals on Earth. They have a slender body with long legs, a long tail, and a
beautiful coat of fur that is golden with black spots. They can run up to 112 km per hour and can outrun most
cars. Cheetahs are carnivores and mainly eat small to medium-sized prey such as rabbits, deer, and birds. They
hunt during the day. Most cheetahs live in the forests and grasslands of some countries in Africa. Unfortunately,
the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimates that their population is between 4,000 and
12,000 wild cheetahs left at somewhere (2024). The species faces threats due to human activities, leading to
habitat loss and a lack of food.
Peacocks are large and colorful birds known for their beautiful feathers. These feathers are bright blue, green,
and yellow. They show off a fancy fan of feathers to attract mates and prevent predators by making themselves
appear bigger and scarier. The interesting thing is that peacock feathers symbolize beauty, good luck, wealth
and prosperity in various cultures. Peacocks are omnivores, feeding on a variety of foods, including fruits, seeds,
insects and small reptiles. They originally come from South Asia. They are often found in forests near water
sources such as rivers and lakes. However, one of the main threats to peacocks is habitat loss.
Black rhinos are large mammals. They are known for their strength and the two horns on their noses. The front
horn can grow up to 140 cm long! Despite their name, black rhinos are not black. They have thick skin that is
gray, white, or brown. They are herbivores feeding on leaves, fruits, and bark from trees and bushes. They live
in the marshes and grasslands of eastern and southern Africa. Sadly, black rhinos are also in danger of becoming
extinct. The black rhino population is dropping quickly because of hunting. There are around 6,000 black rhinos
left in the wild. People hunt them for their horns that is both cruel and illegal.

Welcome to the ‘Wildlife Wonders’ podcast, where we explore fascinating facts about the animal kingdom. In
this episode, we’ll explore the world of pangolins. These amazing animals can be found in a range of habitats,
from forests to grasslands, across Africa and parts of Asia. They are mostly active at night. They are small
mammals covered in scales that look like armor. They have sharp claws and long, sticky tongues for catching
ants and termites, which are their favorite foods.
The average length of a pangolin is around 12 to 39 inches, and it can weigh between 4.4 to 7 pounds. In the
wild, pangolins can live up to 20 years. One of the interesting things about the pangolin is that its tongue is as
long as its body. There are a variety of pangolins in the world, with eight different species. Unfortunately, all
pangolins are in danger due to their habitat loss and illegal wildlife trade caused by human activities such as
deforestation and hunting for their scales and meat.

4. Listen to the conversation between Emma and Alex. Choose the correct answer.
Alex: Hi Emma, did you hear that the pangolins are in danger?
Emma: Yeah, it’s really sad. We should do something to protect them.
Alex: Ah, our school will organize ‘Animal Protection Day’. It will be a great chance to raise awareness among
our friends and family about pangolins.
Emma: Well, I’m glad to be part of it.
Alex: We should encourage people to support the protection of pangolins and their habitats.
Emma: Yes, that’s a great idea. They can help with research and keeping pangolins safe.
Alex: Another idea is to spread the message about why pangolins are important and what happens when
they disappear. We can create posters, organize awareness campaigns, or even write leaflets for
everyone. By informing others about the importance of pangolins in our environment, we can inspire
more people to take action.
Emma: You’re right, we may also run workshops or invite pangolin experts to discuss pangolins. This way, we
can provide a platform for students to learn more and ask questions.
Alex: Besides, we could work with other schools and communities to organize activities like planting more
trees or reducing plastic waste.
Emma: It is important to stop poaching and the illegal trading of pangolins. Also, we must never buy any of
these products.
Alex: I agree. When we buy those things, we’re hurting pangolins directly. If we do not purchase these
products, demand will go down, which will help protect us from such harm.
Emma: If we see someone buying or selling pangolin products illegally, report it to the authorities.
That’s a fantastic suggestion. Let us work together to create change. It’s our time to take action and
help these amazing species.

VERTEBRATES AND INVERTEBRATES
Animals come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and they are categorized into two main groups: invertebrates
and vertebrates. Let’s take a closer look at the characteristics that distinguish these fascinating groups.
Invertebrates are animals without a backbone. They make up the majority of the animal kingdom and are
incredibly diverse in shape, size, and habitat. Examples of invertebrates include insects, spiders, worms, etc.
These animals have a wide range of adaptations that allow them to thrive in different environments. For
instance, insects have jointed legs and wings, which enable them to fly and explore their surroundings.
On the other hand, vertebrates are animals that have a backbone and a skull. Vertebrates have more complex
body structures compared to invertebrates. They can be found in many different environments, including land,
water, and air. This group includes fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.
• Fish have fins and use gills to breathe.
• Amphibians, such as frogs and salamanders, can live both in water and on land.
• Reptiles, like snakes and turtles, have scaly skin and lay eggs on land.
• Birds have feathers, beaks, and lay eggs.
• Mammals, including humans, are warm-blooded animals that give birth to live young and nurse them with milk.
Both invertebrates and vertebrates play important roles in the ecosystem. They have unique characteristics and
adaptations that help them survive and thrive in their respective habitats.

07 THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY

Track 7.01
4. Listen to the text. Write a highlighted word from the text to match the correct definition.
THEN AND NOW: HOW TECHNOLOGY HAS CHANGED OUR LIVES
Technology has brought significant advancements and improvements in various aspects of our lives.
Communication once relied heavily on traditional methods such as letters and phone calls. In the past, traditional
communication methods were time-consuming and required physical presence. Letters were sent via mail, and
phone calls were the primary means of remote communication. With the arrival of the Internet, communication
has become faster, more convenient, and more accessible than before. Emails, instant messaging, and social
media enable a quick and efficient exchange of information. The number of email users worldwide is over 3.9
billion, showing the extensive use of digital communication. The use of smartphones, by approximately 3.8
billion people globally has sped up the change.
The entertainment industry has also experienced a big transformation. In the past, traditional entertainment
sources included televisions, movies, and live performances. People only watched scheduled programs.
Nowadays, entertainment has become highly personalized and accessible. Streaming services like Netflix, with
over 200 million subscribers, have replaced traditional TV viewing. Media platforms like YouTube, with over 2
billion active users, have allowed individuals to create and share their content widely. The gaming industry has
used virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), providing a more interactive entertainment experience.
Smartphones, with app stores, have made entertainment portable, allowing users to enjoy a wide range of
content on the go.
Technology has not only boosted communication but also revolutionized entertainment, making it more
accessible, diverse, and interactive than in the past. The shift from traditional to digital forms of communication
and entertainment highlights the transformative impact of technology on our daily lives.

Lisa: Yes, it was! I loved playing it with my friends. It required coordination and teamwork.
Tom: I agree. It was a great way to be active and enjoy some fresh air outside. Nowadays, it seems like
children are more interested in playing video games or watching TV shows.
Lisa: That’s true. I hardly see kids playing traditional games like hopscotch, hide-and-seek, or tug of war
anymore. These games were not only fun but also helped us develop our social skills and creativity.
Tom: And what about board games? We loved playing Monopoly with our friends and family. It was a great
way to bond and spend quality time together.
Lisa: I know. Nowadays, children seem to prefer playing games on their smartphones or tablets instead of
interacting with each other.
Tom: It’s a shame because traditional games provide a way to connect with others and learn valuable social
skills, such as taking turns, sharing, and communicating effectively.
Lisa: Exactly. It’s important to keep a balance between technology and traditional games to ensure that
children have a complete entertainment experience. We should encourage children to play both digital
and traditional games to help them develop different skills and create unique memories.
Tom: I couldn’t agree more.

In the past, people used to enjoy music by listening to cassette tapes. They purchased or borrowed tapes from

the tape to find a specific song or play an entire album. People would often create mixtapes by recording their
favorite songs onto a blank cassette tape, adding a personal touch to their music collection.
Nowadays, the way we enjoy music has significantly changed. With the growth of digital music and streaming
services, cassette tapes have become less common. Streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube
Music offer a huge library of songs that is accessible through smartphones or computers. Users can create
personalized playlists, explore new artists, and discover music from various genres easily. Moreover, digital
music allows us to enjoy our favorite songs anywhere, anytime with just a few taps or clicks.

08 FUTURE TRANSPORTATION

Track 8.01
3. Listen to the text and fill in the blanks.
As technology develops, means of transportation will become more automated and convenient. These advanced
modes of transportation will offer significant advantages for the future.
A. One of the advanced vehicles is the self-driving car. Unlike traditional cars, driverless cars operate
without human drivers. This allows people to focus on other important tasks instead of driving. For
example, businessmen can review documents, parents can play with their children, teachers can
prepare lessons, and students can do homework while the automated car takes care of the journey.
24
B. Delivery drones are special devices to carry packages from one place to another. They are like small
helicopters that can transport things very quickly in the sky. In the future, many companies will use
this form of transportation to reduce delivery time and cut costs of hiring deliverymen, particularly
in downtowns with lots of vehicles every day. Additionally, in emergencies, delivery drones can be a
valuable solution because they can travel at high speed. We won’t need to wait long for our goods.
C. Frequent traffic jams during rush hour bring discomfort and stress to travelers. However, we can tackle
this problem by using flying cars. These types of cars will combine the abilities of a traditional car with
those of an airplane, allowing them to travel either on the road or in the sky. Therefore, they can avoid
traffic congestion, making people feel safer and less worried about their journeys. In addition, if traffic
jams are no longer a concern for people, they will want to travel more.
D. The hyperloop is an amazing means of transportation. Will the hyperloop replace trains and buses?
Yes, it will. It’s similar to a train with plenty of seats but the hyperloop will operate within a tunnel at
much higher speed. Inside this special tunnel, hyperloops can move extremely rapidly since there is
no air to slow them down. This means that it may be possible to travel between cities very quickly and
conveniently.

7. Listen to Bill talking about traveling in the future and write 4 adverbs he mentioned.
Teacher: How do you think we will travel in the future?
Bill: In my opinion, we will travel by many different vehicles, both on the road and in the sky. We will use
the latest technology to develop modern means of transportation. In the future, we won’t have to wait
for a long time in traffic congestion because flying cars will transport us safely and easily in the sky.
Instead of sitting in a small and crowded bus, we will travel by hyperloops. They allow us to visit many
places conveniently and quickly.

Track 8.03
3. Listen to a conversation of two students. Tick () advantages of each vehicle.
Boy: Imagine the future when we can explore space in an elevator, or fly our own cars through the air. It
may sound like science fiction, but these technologies are actually closer than you might think.
Girl: Yeah, I’ve heard about space elevators, flying cars and automated cars. What are the advantages of
these vehicles over traditional ones?
Boy: Well, let’s start with space elevators. Space elevators will take you from Earth to space in just a few
minutes. It will significantly reduce travel time and make space exploration accessible to everyone.
Girl: That’s amazing. Moreover, space elevators have the potential to reduce the great number of emissions
because there are no more toxic emissions from fuel-burning rockets into the atmosphere.
Boy: Wow, that’s great to hear. How about flying cars? I think they will be one of the coolest inventions.
Girl: Exactly, it can both operate on the road and fly in the sky which will help us avoid traffic jams in rush
hour. Thanks to that, we won’t waste much time traveling on the road. I think flying cars will run on
electricity or wind energy. That power will limit emissions into the air.
So impressive! Lastly, automated cars. They will function without human control. Therefore, it will be
easy for everyone including people with disabilities to travel anywhere they want without needing
help from other people.
Girl: It is interesting to think about how future means of transportation will improve our lives and our
planet.

3. Listen to people sharing opinions about traditional cars. Tick () the opinions that they mentioned.
Boy: Hi, I want a new car. Should I get a normal car or a car that drives itself?
Girl: Well, normal cars are easy to find and fix.
Boy: Why do you say it’s easy to find and fix?
Girl: I mean…, you can find the one you like because they have many types for you to choose. Also, gas
stations are everywhere to fill up your car. Moreover, in case your car breaks down, more people know
how to fix it.
Boy: Ah… I got it.
Girl: Plus, they often cost less to buy.
Boy: How about the cost of self-driving cars?
Girl: I think automated cars will be much more expensive than traditional ones, because they have advanced
technology and special features to improve your safety while driving. Moreover, driverless cars run on
less and cleaner power than normal cars, which will help reduce air pollution.
Boy: Thanks for your suggestion! I will think carefully before I choose my new car.
Girl: You’re welcome!

Track 8.05
4. You will hear a boy telling his mother about his friends’ opinions on self-driving cars. Match each friend
with their opinion.
Boy: Hi, Mom! I’ve just talked to my friends about self-driving cars. It’s so exciting!
Mother: Oh really? What did they say?
Boy: Well, Edwards said that cars that drove themselves were safer because they could see things around
and stop or move to avoid them.
Mother: That’s a good point.
Boy: Amelia said that these cars could be helpful because they could drive us to places while we were doing
other things. For example, we could read books or use tablets, phones, or laptops while driving.
Mother: That could be nice.
Boy: However, Julie said if cars drove themselves, what happened to all the people who drove taxis or
trucks?
Mother: That’s a very thoughtful question. It’s true that new technology can sometimes mean changes in jobs.
But it can also create new jobs that we haven’t even thought of yet.
Boy: That’s true. Another friend of mine – Andy said that if more people shared these cars, there would be
less traffic.
Mother: That could be true. It can reduce traffic jams and help people save time from moving.
Boy: Yes, it’s what Andy said. However, his best friend – Mark said these cars were expensive and not
everyone could afford them.
Mother: Yes, new technology could often be expensive at first.
Boy: Mark said it could be expensive but over time, it usually became more affordable.
Mother: How about the technology?
Boy: Some of my friends were worried about technology problems. Ethan asked what if the car was broken
or couldn’t see something?
Mother: That’s a very good point. Technology isn’t perfect and sometimes it can make mistakes or break down.
It sounds like you and your classmates had a very interesting discussion.

1. In pairs or groups, discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a delivery drone. Then listen and check.
The major disadvantage of a delivery drone is that it can only carry lightweight items, so big and heavy items still
require human delivery. Moreover, delivery drones may drop packages during delivery. It can lead to damaged
or lost goods. Last but not least, delivery drones resemble small aircrafts, so they will make a lot of noise leading
to people’s frustration especially in residential areas.
In contrast, there are also some advantages of a delivery drone. The main advantage of a delivery drone is that
it can reduce delivery time significantly. Typically, it takes 2 or 4 days to receive our products. However, in the
future, we will receive our products very quickly in just a few hours. Moreover, delivery drones can fly in the
sky, so they can reach remote areas. They can deliver packages over mountains and rivers. Another advantage
is that with the flying function they will avoid traffic jams easily.

7. Listen and put the phrases in the correct order.
1. Future vehicles will offer many benefits. Driverless cars will provide greater convenience while traveling
as they can operate without human control. Therefore, we can do other tasks like reading documents or
playing with our children. Moreover, thanks to their automation, they are accessible to everyone including
people with disabilities. In addition, automated vehicles will run on electricity or natural energy so they will
reduce emissions into the air.
1. In contrast, there are some disadvantages of new transportation. To begin with, they will rely on advanced
and complex technology, so it can be hard and expensive to develop and maintain modern transportation.
Additionally, using technology will be unreliable due to an increasing number of cyberattacks. Last but not
least, if people prefer to use future vehicles over traditional cars, this will lead to the unemployment in
some particular jobs, such as taxi drivers and truck drivers, as these jobs could be replaced by automated
systems.
