I. PROJECT TITLE SCHOOL-BASED INTRAMURALS 2024 Theme: “Promoting Active Participation for Lifelong Engagement and Developing Learners’ Proficiency in Chosen Sports”. I. PROPONENT NELSON M. ATENTO JR. (Sports Coordinator/Intramurals Director)
III. DESCRIPTION Intramurals is crucial part of the educational process, it helps students develop their physical health, sportsmanship, and teamwork skills. San Vicente Grande High School acknowledges the value of intramurals in supporting the overall growth of our students. This proposal outlines the plan for the school intramurals 2024, which will offer students an opportunity to display their skills, enhance physical activity, and build a stronger sense of community within our school. IV. OBJECTIVES For the School Year 2024-2025, School-Based Intramurals aims to:
• To encourage students' physical health and wellbeing.
• To improve leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. • To strengthen unity and school spirit. • To provide students a platform on which to display their abilities. • To promote diversity and inclusivity within the school community.
V. RATIONALE The Philippine basic education curriculum not only focuses on the academic aspect but also integrates physical education and sports into the curriculum so that the student will learn and grow holistically. Intramurals is one of the most anticipated events in school, wherein students can unleash their skills, abilities, and talents by participating in different sports and recreational activities. Implementing this kind of event provides a myriad of benefits that contribute to students' physical, social, and emotional development. Intramurals enhance health and physical fitness. It provides students with a fun and disciplined approach to participate in physical activity at a time when screen usage and sedentary lives are the norm. This promotes a healthy way of living, fights obesity, and creates fitness habits. Furthermore, intramurals are an excellent environment for cultivating sportsmanship and teamwork. Through these activities, students grasp the value of fair play, respect for others, and collaboration with teammates, lessons that translate into many areas of life. Moreover, intramurals help build social connections, as students from different backgrounds unite over shared interests, creating relationships that might not form solely in the classroom. This communal spirit can enhance emotional well-being and provide a supportive network for students. Moreover, intramurals act as a stress-relief tool. With the pressures of academics being sometimes overwhelming, engaging in physical activities helps reduce stress and boost mental health, offering students a constructive way to relax and recharge. Intramurals also promote skill development, allowing students to either master a new sport or enhance their existing abilities, leading to personal achievement and self- discovery. Beyond these individual benefits, intramurals enrich the school culture by fostering a sense of pride and identity among students, which cultivates a lively school spirit. This sense of unity is further enhanced through inter-school competitions, encouraging healthy rivalries and community support. In conclusion, school intramurals 2024 serves as an essential component of the educational landscape. They offer a holistic approach to student development, encompassing physical fitness, character building, social connections, and emotional well-being. These benefits enhance students' school experiences and prepare them with important skills and values that will benefit them throughout their lives.
