the load from the generator? Solve this using SMITH chart.

2. a)Rectangular air-filled copper guide with 0.9 inch x 4 inch cross section and 12 inch length is operated
at 9.2 GHz with a dominant mode. Find the cut-off frequency, the phase velocity and the characteristic
impedance

b)A standard air-filled rectangular guide with dimensions a = 8.636 cm, b = 4.318 cm is fed by a 4 GHz
carrier from a coaxial cable. Determine whether a TE_{10} mode is propagated. If so, calculate the phase
velocity and the group velocity.
