Introduction

Helping others is an act of humanity which everyone

must incorporate within themselves to be called a good
human being. If we have something in excess then we
must share those things with everyone else who lacks
that thing whether it be things from the materialistic
world or the feelings of happiness, food pleasure or
anything.
For the subject of human values and ethics , I was the
happiest to get the assignment of HELPING THE NEEDY
PERSON which I believe is not a thing to just write upon
but a thing which must be done and forgotten with the
increasing age because if someone helps any other
then
he is not doing any great thing but helping in growth of
the world along with him. Dalai Lama described
Humanity as:
“World belong to humanity.
not this leader, that leader or that king or prince or
religious leader.
World belongs to humanity’’
Helping The Needy person

My driver had been working with our family for

years. He is a hardworking man who always
puts in his best efforts despite his personal
struggles. During a conversation, I learned that
he was going through a particularly tough time.
The rising costs of living and unexpected
expenses were making it hard for him to
provide for his family. His humble nature made
it difficult for him to ask for help, but it was
clear that he could use some support.

Problems Faced While Helping

The primary problems my driver faced were
related to financial strain. His salary, which was
sufficient for basic needs, could no longer cover
unexpected expenses like medical bills or price
hikes in food and utilities. As a result, he had
been cutting back on necessities, such as buying
fresh food and proper clothing for his family.

He also expressed concern about how this was

affecting his household. He was the sole
breadwinner for his wife and children, and the
lack of proper nutrition and clothing was
beginning to take a toll on his family’s well-
being. This situation created a lot of stress for
him, as he struggled to balance work while
worrying about his family’s basic needs.

Offering Help
Upon realizing his situation, I decided to step in
and offer some help. I began by gathering food
supplies, including essential items like rice,
lentils, flour, cooking oil, and vegetables. These
were items that could support his family for
several weeks and would ease his financial
burden temporarily. I also included some
clothing for him and his family, focusing on
items that would be suitable for the upcoming
season and durable enough to last for a while.

When I presented these supplies to him, he was

initially hesitant to accept them. However, after
explaining that it was my way of showing
appreciation for all his hard work and loyalty,
he gratefully accepted the help. I also reassured
him that this was not charity but a way to help
him and his family get through a rough patch.

Outcome and Feelings About Helping

The outcome of this experience was more

rewarding than I had expected. The food
supplies allowed my driver to provide his
family with better meals for several weeks. His
wife was relieved that she no longer had to
worry about daily meals, and the children were
able to enjoy nutritious food, which made a
noticeable difference in their health and energy
levels.

For me, the experience was incredibly fulfilling.

I felt a deep sense of gratitude for being in a
position to help someone who had been so
dedicated to our family. It reminded me of the
importance of recognizing the struggles of
those around us, even if they do not always
voice their difficulties. Seeing my driver’s relief
and appreciation gave me a profound sense of
joy and made me more aware of how much we
can improve someone’s life with just a little
effort.

The person who finds joy in the happiness of

others is the most content.
