About MUN?
Nations’ Symposium Model United Nations is a conference
driven by the core values of youth development and
empowerment. It strives to inculcate within the youth the
spirit of democracy and leadership.

The support from the NGO is the true strength of the

conference, where we strive to build a platform for the
youth to discuss, debate, and deliberate on issues that
hold national and international importance.

The conference is proudly a part of the UN Refugee

Challenge, showcasing our unwavering support and
commitment to bring change and awareness amongst the
youth.

Students today can have a better vision of their tomorrow,

NSMUN believes in,” It’s your mind, your talent, and the
creativity you bring in your lives that leads to a brighter
future.”
What is MUN?
Model United Nations is a simulation that imitates the
procedures of the United Nations finding solutions for
real-world problems, done through an academic simulation of
the United Nations procedure. The MUN simulation consists of
negotiation, discussion, and lively debates, which is the
cornerstone of UN activity.

MUN participants role-play as diplomats representing a nation

in a simulated session of an organ (committee) of the United
Nations. Using Model United Nations Rules of Procedure,
participants will simulate UN bodies like the United Nations
Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations Women (UNW),
United Nations Security Council (UNSC), or any of the other
United Nations bodies.

Participants will need to research a country and take on the

role of a diplomat to try and find solutions to important
problems of the day. Through public speech, debate, lobbying,
and negotiations, the participants will come together to create
documents with their policy ideas called ‘draft resolutions’.
Once the drafts are ready, they will be discussed and voted
upon by the committee. A successful MUN delegate can
introduce an idea from their opening speech and successfully
get it onto the draft resolution which is passed with a majority.
