1. Purpose:
The purpose of generating this Work Method Statement is to define the step-by-step procedure
to implement the correct practices for installing Conduits. Guidelines are contained herein so as
to ensure that the job execution complies with standards and specification requirements and
serves the intended purpose to satisfactory level.
2. Scope:
This Work Method Statement refers to various work procedures contained within project
control documents, which explains and covers the installation of conduits.
3. Reference:
3.1 Scope of Work/Project Technical Specifications (PTS #)
3.2 Standards (Latest Revision): 01-TMSS-01; 23-TMSS-04; and others, as applicable.
3.3 Approved drawings.
3.4 Manufacturer drawings., technical data, and installation details/manual

4. Responsibilities:
4.1 Site Manager
4.2 Site Engineer/Supervisor
4.3 QA/QC Engineer
4.4 Safety Engineer

5. Tools / Equipment:
5.1 Portable hand and power tools (e.g. pipe wrench, etc.).
5.2 Hydraulic/manual pipe cutting machine
5.3 Hydraulic/manual pipe bending machine
5.4 Others as may be deemed necessary
6. Materials:
Conduits and accessories/fittings shall be in line with the approved material submittals, and
approved drawings as per the standards and specifications.

On receipt of the conduits and related accessories at the site, necessary precautions shall be
taken for loading, shifting & storage, as follows:

7.1 Site deliveries should preferably only be made where suitable mechanical handling
equipment is available on site.
7.2 The delivered material must be treated with care. Lifting must only be carried out from the
sides and the forklift truck tines must pass below a complete bundle.
7.3 Material shall be stored in a covered / dry space at all the time to avoid corrosion, and in
accordance with the vendor/manufacturer recommendation.
7.4 All materials received at the site shall be inspected by the QA/QC Engineer for checking of
its completeness and conformity/compliance to requirements, ensuring that the materials
are as per approved material submittal and standards.
7.5 Any discrepancies, damage, etc. (nonconformities) found will be noted down and reported
for further action/correction.
7.6 Materials found not suitable for site use will be removed from site immediately.
8. Work Procedure:

8.1 Ensure that the work area is ready and safe to start the installation of conduits.
8.2 Unless otherwise specified, conduits shall be of rigid steel material.
8.3 For connections to fixtures/receptacles, flexible conduits shall be installed as applicable.
8.4 For underground applications, install or lay PVC DB-type conduits/duct and connections
shall be made through PVC couplings/connectors by solvent cement.
8.5 Cut and bend the conduits as per the approved drawings.
8.6 Remove the burrs on both ends of the conduits and clean to avoid damaging the cables
during pulling.
8.7 Connect the ends of the conduits with the appropriate fittings according to the type of
conduits use and applicable for the particular location.
8.8 Fix the conduits securely on the steel supports (steel angle bars or C-channels) or on
concrete surfaces with C-clamps (For exposed installations)

9. Safety Procedure:

9.1 Workers should receive training and be aware of the appropriate safe work procedures on
conduits installation.
9.2 Necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) to be worn while working. Other than
basic PPE,use of related safety paraphernalia, as necessary, during installation as applicable
in the work area shall be applied.
9.3 Keep the work area clear and dust-free during and after installation.
9.4 Keep hand tools and power tools in a safe and accessible area while working.
9.5 Ensure there is adequate lighting for the work area.
9.6 Ensure safe lifting and shifting and its related hazards and risks shall be applied through
the deployment of certified rigger / signalman and equipment/machine operator, as
necessary.
9.7 Ensure service/work area openings are provided with barricade, tape, safety nets, and
warning signage.
9.8 All the required permits to work (if applicable) are obtained before starting work.
9.9 Emergency response plan and procedure is developed and established as per the site
conditions during the execution of the activity.
9.10 First aid and fire extinguishers must be available at the site.
