Last Saturday morning, I woke up early. First, I


arranged my bed and cleaned my room. While I was
fixing my room, my mother called me for breakfast.
“Oh! It’s my favorite food! Scrambled egg,” I
shouted excitedly. “Come here and eat,” Mother
replied. “You will go with me. We will go
somewhere. You’ll love it there,” she added.
“Where? Where?” I eagerly asked. “You’ll find out
later,” Mother answered with a smile on her face.
After eating my breakfast, I hurriedly took a bath
and changed my clothes. “Mama, I am preparing
myself now,” I said as I tied my shoe. “Ok, let’s go!”
Mother said. I was very curious as to where we were
going. We were riding a tricycle and I was so
amazed of the beautiful sceneries.

B. Establishing a Tell a short story:
purpose "Yesterday, I went to the park. I played with my friends. We ran

Ask students, “When did the story happen? Is it today or
yesterday?” (Expected answer: Yesterday)

Explain that verbs like "played," "ran," and "jumped" tell us what
already happened, and this is called past tense
C. Presenting  Past Tense:
Examples / The past tense is used to talk about actions that already
instances of happened. These are things we did in the past.

 Regular Verbs: These verbs typically end with -ed to


show past tense.
o Example: play → played, jump → jumped, walk →

 Irregular Verbs: These verbs change form to show past
tense and do not follow the regular -ed rule.
o Example: run → ran, go → went, eat → ate

 Write these examples on the board:

 Regular: "Yesterday, I walked to school."


 Irregular: "Last week, I ate an apple."

 Emphasize how the action has already happened.


D. Discussing Write a few sentences on the board with verbs in the present
