1. GENERAL
1.1. Description
The nurse call scope of works covers a patient activated call system intended to provide an
efficient communication between patient and nurse within the ward. The system shall be
specifically designed to suit hospitals.
1.3. Design
1.3.1. Technology
The system design shall be microprocessor based.
The system shall be able to provide routine and emergency signalling. The system should
be capable of being upgraded to high fidelity voice communication and data transmission
between the various locations within the ward.
The system shall also have the provision for future expansion such as coupling to a
computer network.
All support equipment for the nurse call system shall be included and located
near the nurse station.
1.3.9. Programming
The system shall be easily programmed on site, by means of a hand-held programming
device. The system shall also have to cater for alternative programming (manual
programming) of system configuration in the event of the failure of the programming
device.
All call varieties and lighting intervals shall be configurable and all displayed text shall
be able to be altered via this programming device. The adjustment of the buzzer tone
shall be done via the configuration device.
The sound levels of the buzzer of all types of the call shall be distinguishable from those
of other types.
The programmable device shall preferably equipped with the capability of being used as
a service tool. All system parameters shall be configured outside the patient room so as to
have minimum interruption to the patient.
2. QUALITY
2.1. Samples
Submit samples of all equipment & components.
3.5.2. Toilet
Initiated by activating a toilet call button, and causes illumination of the LED reassurance
indication of the call button.
Cancellation of this call shall be only from the originating site.
4. EXECUTION
4.1. Manufacturer’s recommendations
The installation shall comply with the manufacturer’s recommendations. The manufacturer
shall provide a representative to supervise the installation and commissioning.
5. COMPLETION
5.1. Training
Two sessions of on-site service training shall be provided for the front line personnel such
as the hospital maintenance team prior to handling over of the system.
Three sessions of application training shall be provided for nurses.
Subsequent application training shall be provided on a request basis and such training shall
be co-ordinated with the training department.
5.2. Spares
Submit a list of items comprises of spare part, test kit and special tools, recommended for
maintenance use.
