Newnham College June Event Music


If you are interested in playing at the Newnham June Event (Tuesday 19th June) come to auditions which will be held in Newnham bar on the weekend of the 28th/29th January from 2-8pm each day. Were interested in all varieties of music, and will be offering free tickets along with the possibility of payment. To book a place contact Laura Russell (ljr42@cam.ac.uk) with the name of your band/act, a brief description (music, genre etc.), the times you are available and any equipment to may need us to provide for the audition. If the dates/times arent convenient but youd still like the chance to play, email us anyway and well try and find an alternative.

Good News for a (Climate) Change"


Monday 30th of January @ 7:30pm: a workshop being hosted by activist, author and poet Danny Chivers. He's going to take a positive look at the latest climate science and explore how it's still possible to achieve climate justice. Fitzwilliam Lent Term Play


FitzTheatre returns once again to present the hilarious play, LONDON ASSURANCE by Dion Boucicault. The as-et unconfirmed performance dates are Monday 12th March and Tuesday 13th March at the end of week 8. Come along and audition on Sunday 22nd January at 10.30am in the Music Room (main building) or Monday 23rd January from 5-6pm and 7pm onwards in Old Library 1 (upstairs in the Main Building). There is no need to prepare anything beforehand, you will be provided with a passage to perform when you arrive. Just bring yourself, a smile and most importantly, your A-GAME!

Get Keen for Green Week!


Between Monday 6th February and Sunday 12th February there will be a vast range of activities, film showings and talks about current environmental issues. See the notice board for more details! Also, support sustainability by coming to the Fitzwilliam Vegetarian Formal on Wednesday 8th. Book and reduce your carbon footprint!

Emmanuel June Event


Emmanuel June event is recruiting musicians and DJs!! On Sunday 5th February auditions for the event will be taking place from 1.30 to 5.30pm in the Queens Building lecture theatre at Emmanuel. All bands, DJs and solo musicians are needed to make the event a roaring success. If you are interested email mg624@cam.ac.uk with a brief description of the act.

Student volunteer taster day


3 march, 10am-6pm, Anglesey Abbey and Wicken Fen. Lunch, a BBQ tea and free transport from Cambridge are provided. Expect a fun and eyeopening day offering an insight into the work of the National Trust, with details of roles and projects you can get involved in. This is an exclusive opportunity for Cambridge students to experience a variety of practical activities to help you understand what is involved when volunteering with the Trust. Highlights will include practical conservation work making new bird boxes for Anglesey Abbeys wildlife discovery area, developing and trialling family activities, finding out about how you can get involved in education and events work and hands-on experience helping bring our places to life in a costume and cocktails session in the Abbey. Half of the day will be spent at Anglesey Abbey and half the day at Wicken Fen. Escape the bubble and have a bit of fun along with way! Cambridge Hub Lecture: National Trust Community and Conservation


Wednesday 15th February, 7.30pm, Latimer Room Clare College. A joint talk given by Janet Jephcott, community gardener at Anglesey Abbey, and Lois Baker, community officer at Wicken Fen. The talk will also be an opportunity to find out more about your local National Trust and how you can get involved.

The Challenges of Development in Fragile States: Experiences from Haiti talk


The GSEF. CUiD and the Faculty of Education Research Students Association, is hosting a talk to be given by His Excellency Mr Claude Boucher (Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to the UK/former Ambassador of Canada to Haiti) on MONDAY 30TH JANUARY. The talk is free and will be held at Seminar Room GS4, Faculty of Education from 6-7pm. There will be a limited amount of wine and non-alcoholic refreshment after the talk. Volunteers needed for Part II Psychology Research Project


Before Christmas an email was sent around asking if people would volunteer to do a computer based memory task. We still need more people so if you havent done it before please help out a desperate part II student in need of results! The task will take around 30 mins to complete. Testing is being held from Thursday 19th- Monday 23rd. 2012 McKinsey Innovate Cambridge Launch


In collaboration with Cambridge University Entrepreneurs (CUE), McKinsey & Co. is launching the 2012 McKinsey Innovative: realize your social enterprise business plan competition. This is a national competition for students at UK universities that aims to promote creative and entrepreneurial spirit by supporting a student team to launch a business that benefits society. The winning team will receive seed funding and support from McKinsey consultants to transform their idea into a real social enterprise. Volunteer with HELP


Volunteer with HELP (Helambu Education and Livelihood Project) this summer! No previous teaching experience needed, no paying gap-year companies- HELP is a small-scale, grassroots Nepali-run charity so admin costs are minimal and you can plan your own individual project. The Teach and trek scheme offers and organizes optional discounted treks through the Himalayas after your teaching placement.
