Rationale of the Project:

Barangay Muntingpulo faces environmental challenges, such as improper waste disposal,


lack of recycling initiatives, and inadequate awareness about sanitation and healthy living. This
project will address these issues by engaging the youth, the future generation of the barangay, in
environmental and health education.
 Why this barangay: The community is actively seeking ways to reduce waste
and improve public health. Additionally, children are the most responsive age
group to education initiatives, making them ideal advocates for these changes.
 Why the beneficiaries: Children will directly benefit from acquiring knowledge
on hygiene, nutrition, and environmental care, while their families will indirectly
benefit as the children implement learned practices at home.

Objectives:

General Objective:

To raise awareness and encourage active participation among the youth of Barangay
Muntingpulo in promoting environmental sustainability and healthy living practices.

Specific Objectives:

1. To educate 7-12-year-old children on proper waste segregation and recycling practices.


2. To teach children about the importance of nutrition and healthy eating habits.
3. To promote hygiene awareness through handwashing and sanitation education.
4. To engage children in tree planting and other environmental conservation activities.
5. To build a sustainable habit of environmentally conscious and health-oriented behaviors
within the community.

Description of the Project:

Components or Activities:

1. Waste Segregation Workshops


o Teach the children about proper waste segregation and the importance of
recycling.
2. Nutrition and Healthy Eating Workshops
o Discuss the food pyramid, healthy eating, and how nutrition affects growth and
well-being.
3. Handwashing and Hygiene Campaign
o Educate children on the significance of proper hygiene in preventing illness.
4. Tree Planting Activities
o Engage children in planting trees and small garden plants to enhance
environmental consciousness.
Involvement:

 CWTS students will conduct workshops and facilitate activities.


 Barangay Council and SK Council
 Barangay residents specially the children around 7-12 years old.

Requirements:

 Partnership letters with Barangay Muntingpulo and SK Council.


 Permission for tree planting and use of public spaces.
 Materials for workshops (e.g., educational handouts, activity kits).

Strategies and Methods of Implementation:

1. Start-up Activities (March 2nd - 9th):


o Conduct orientation sessions with community stakeholders.
o Prepare materials and resources for workshops and activities.
o Coordinate with barangay officials for tree planting permissions.
2. Workshop and Activities Schedule:
o Begin with waste management and hygiene workshops, followed by nutrition and
tree planting activities.
o Weekly engagements to build rapport with children and reinforce learned
concepts.
3. Partner Agency Role:
o Barangay Council and SK Council: Assist in mobilizing community
participation, securing venues, and providing materials.

Monitoring and Evaluation Mechanics of the Project:

1. Monitoring:
o Weekly check-ins with project proponents and partner agencies to assess progress
and address any issues.
o Regular feedback from beneficiaries (children and parents) after each activity.
2. Evaluation:
o Pre- and post-surveys to assess knowledge gained on environmental sustainability
and health.
o A final evaluation at the end of the project, with suggestions for improving future
activities.

Plans to Ensure the Sustainability of the Project:

 Post-project follow-up: Provide educational materials to children to continue practicing


the learned concepts at home.
 Barangay Involvement: Encourage the barangay council and SK council to continue
promoting waste segregation and hygiene education as part of regular barangay
programs.
 Ongoing tree maintenance: Establish a schedule for maintaining the trees planted by the
children with the help of the barangay’s youth group.
