Supervises all departments including AIG program

Oversees AIG program Evaluates AIG District Coordinator Assists AIG District Coordinator

Supports the implementation of the AIG program for the district

Oversees AIG budget Coordinates staff development Answers legal questions Evaluates AIG program Directs Kaleidoscope Supports development of curriculum Supports selection of materials Supports assessments for AIG identification Consults with teachers and administrators Coordinates communications to parents and community Coordinates all Advisory Council meetings Works with community agencies to provide mentorships, internships, and field experiences Assists in program evaluation Facilitate all CogAT testing Facilitate all ITBS testing Other duties as assigned by Asst. Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction

State licensure in gifted education Minimum of five years experience in teaching gifted students and/or Masters degree pertinent to program

Oversees curriculum differentiation to meet needs of AIG students Serves on AIG Services Team (or appoints designee) Assigns AIG students for appropriate instruction Insures faculty has appropriate AIG certification or in process Evaluates faculty implementation of AIG program Communicates with parents, community members, students, and educational staff regarding AIG program

Generate, evaluate, and maintain AIG paperwork/folder Supports and implements service delivery at school site to match student needs Collaborates with other AIG personnel to achieve district goals Collaborates with regular teachers to support differentiation Serves as chair of AIG Services Team to identify AIG students Communicates with school personnel, students, and parents regarding program goals and needs Coordinates selection of materials Disseminates AIG information Assists in program evaluation Administers ITBS Oversees CogAT distribution Implements service delivery at school site Collaborates with other AIG personnel to achieve district goals Collaborates with guidance counselors concerning scholarships, enrichment opportunities, emotional and social concerns, and at-risk students Serves as chair of AIG Services Team Communicates with school personnel, students, and parents regarding program goals and needs Coordinates selection of materials Disseminates AIG information Assists in program evaluation

Supports social, emotional and academic needs of AIG students Collaborates with AIG Lead/Resource Teacher concerning scholarships, enrichment opportunities, appropriate course selection, and at-risk students Participates on AIG Services Team as needed Administers individualized tests for identification as needed Collaborates with AIG Services Team to develop an individual case study plan for any student scoring 130 or above on an individual IQ test who does not qualify for AIG services Supports social, emotional, and academic needs of AIG students Participates on AIG Services Team as needed Provides resources for teachers and students Facilitates independent studies Provides guidance regarding appropriate selection and use of technology for AIG students Establishes educational policy for the AIG program Seeks appropriate funding for the AIG program

RESPONSIBILITIES
Tenure for position not to exceed 3 years Morning and afternoon car duty along with Kaleidoscope coordinator Oversees daily newsletter with trivia questions PowerPoint presentation for parents of students going on the trip Handling of discipline and other issues that may arise in absence of AIG coordinator Supervision of snack time Preparation of classroom and teaching of class Organization of t-shirts and bus supplies Preparation of supplies for the bus to and from the field trip Supervision of bus #2 during the trip Working closely with coordinator regarding bus arrangements, chaperone assignments, and other decisions Conducting brief opening session Supervision of trivia prizes Payroll data form 7:30 am 2:30 pm (without lunch) 7:30 am 3:00 pm (with lunch) Daily Newsletter with trivia questions Supervision of snack time Preparation of classroom and teaching of class Conducting brief opening session Supervision of trivia prizes

Lee County Schools AIG Local Preparation

Since the onset of No Child Left Behind legislation, local AIG endorsements are no longer possible (See memorandum on page 51). All teachers are encouraged to take AIG courses to increase knowledge, skills, and understanding to better meet the needs of their higher ability students. Elementary cluster teachers, middle school advanced/ resource class teachers and honors/AP teachers are strongly recommended to obtain AIG licensure. Opportunities to serve AIG students in the classroom should be given in the following order of preference to teachers who are: AIG licensed; Currently in process to obtain AIG License and Highly Qualified in subject area preferably with over three years teaching experience; Highly Qualified in subject area and preferably with over three years teaching experience; Experienced in the subject area for a minimum of 3 years.

Trained teachers of the gifted are a necessity in best serving our gifted populations.
