This is a high-calibre, 2-year extended Masters programme in Economics offered by the University of Mauritius in close collaboration with the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC website: www.aercafrica.org), a public, non-profit making organization devoted to advanced economic research and training, based in Nairobi, Kenya. Students will spend their first year at the University of Mauritius, where they will take 3 core modules and sit for the examinations (around May 2013). On successful completion of the core modules, students will travel to Nairobi late June 2013 to take 2 elective modules over one semester at the Joint Facility for Electives (JFE), Nairobi. Finally, they will return to the University of Mauritius to prepare their MA thesis during the 4th semester. All fees relating to the programme are payable to the University of Mauritius. However, the AERC, as per practice, will meet tuition costs for all students at the JFE, Nairobi. In addition, it will take care of the travel and accommodations costs for students not sponsored by their employer.

Fees For Auditeur Libre For applicants wishing to follow one or more modules as Auditeur Libre, fees are payable upon enrolment on the module/s as follows: Rs 4,400 per credit for non lab-based modules Rs 5,300 per credit for lab-based modules
Candidates are strongly advised to consult the website address http://kdf.intnet.mu regarding loans guaranteed by Government under the Human Resource, Knowledge and Arts Development (HRKAD) Fund. Applications are also invited from suitably qualified candidates wishing to follow one module or more from above-mentioned programmes as Auditeur Libre against payment of relevant fees. PAYMENT OF FEES
Upon Registration, Fees may be paid Bank Office Cheque or Postal Money Order. A 5% discount on Tuition Fees will be provided to students paying the whole of their Tuition Fees for the academic year upon registration. Please note that the following Direct Debit facilities (Bank Standing Order) will be available for settlement of Tuition Fees only and upon request. If you avail yourself of this facility, you will be required to settle your fees as follows:
(i) 100% of General Fees and Students Welfare Fund + 50% of Tuition Fees to be paid on
registration date.
(ii) Balance of 50% of Tuition Fees to be paid in 3 equal and consecutive monthly instalments.
Payment is to be made as from the following month after registration. A Standing Order Form will be available at the Budget Directors Office during the registration exercise. The form duly filled in, should be submitted before registration. In case of revocation of the Standing Order before its termination, you will not be admitted to the examinations as per University regulations. For settlement by Debit or Credit Cards, a 2.5% charge is applicable on the total amount being settled.
HOW TO APPLY
APPLICANTS IN MAURITIUS 1 2 1. Applicants will not be required to call at the University for application procedures.
2. Have your Bank Office Cheque or a Postal Money Order (drawn to the order of UNIVERSITY OF MAURITIUS) of Rs 1, 000 ready (Personal cheque will not be accepted). You are advised to keep a photocopy of the Bank Office Cheque/Postal Money Order. 3. Apply Online as from Saturday 31st March 2012 and carefully follow all procedures and instructions. 4. A Printed Copy of your Online Application Form together with a Bank Office Cheque or a Postal Money Order (drawn to the order of UNIVERSITY OF MAURITIUS) of Rs 1,000 representing a nonrefundable Application Fee must be sent by registered post only to the following address: Admissions and Student Records Office, Lim Fat Engineering Tower, University of Mauritius,

Rduit Photocopies of educational certificates and other supporting documents should be attached. You are advised to keep the Mauritius Post Ltd postage receipt as evidence of application. 5 5. The University will acknowledge receipt of application online when all the above-mentioned documents are received. Applicants will then be able to print their receipt online.
6. 6 Limited computer facilities for Online Application will be available on the UoM campus. Applicants are strongly advised and encouraged to complete all application procedures from their home, so as to avoid long queues.

Print, verify carefully all your entries and sign your Online Application Form as per instructions. Copy of Certificates other than SC and HSC together with other supporting documents as requested should be attached. Send your Online Application Form by Registered Post together with your original Bank Office Cheque or Postal Money Order to the Admissions and Student Records Office, Lim Fat Engineering Tower, University of Mauritius. Photocopies of educational certificates and other supporting documents should be attached.

Applications received after the closing date or not supported by the relevant documents and Application Fee of Rs 1,000 will not be considered. Prospective applicants are informed that the University reserves the right not to run any one of the above mentioned programmes should there be an insufficient number of students registered for it. So as to remove any possible doubt, prospective applicants are informed that the University is under no obligation to find employment eventually for successful applicants. Applications not submitted on the prescribed forms will not be considered. Documents submitted will not be returned to applicants.

Possible changes which may have implications for the 2012/2013 intake may occur following the switching over to the credit/yearly system (as applicable) and the use of distance education and/or on-line methodologies. The appellation and contents of some programmes may be modified slightly. ONLY SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE OUTCOME OF THEIR APPLICATIONS.
