A Project Report

INTRODUCTION
The five most essential for the existence of CONICAL SHAPED living beings are Air, Water, Food, Heat,& Light , of

IMPORTANCE OF WATER:

which next to Air , Water is the most important requrement for human's life to exit. In fact water is essential not only for the human life but also for animals , plants and all other living thing being the importance of water can be judge from the fact that water is a part of life itself, since the protoplasm of most living cells contains about 80 percent water is disastrous. Most of the bio chemical reaction that occurs in metabolism and growth of living cells involve water and all tank place in water, which has often been refer to as the universal solvent. Further it has been estimated almost two-third of human

body is constituted of water which is required for satisfactory performance of physiological organisms as a circulatory fluid, as a carrier of nourishing food and for removal of and for removal of the waste product from the body

NEEDS FOR WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM.

Since very early times man as obtained water from the surface sources such as rivers, lakes etc.,. as well as from the subsurface or ground water source such as springs, wells etc.,. due to relatively less requirement of water in the early times, which was mainly for the domestic purposes the source where deemed to be sufficient to meet the requirements of the persons residing in the near by areas.

SIDE SPECIFICATIONS(NBC code book)

we have inspected, and found that the hard stratum is available in 1.5m depth. Hence the depth of footing shall be of 1.5m deep.
As per National Building code of India 1983 medium sand compact and dry sand as 245kN/m2. So the safe bearing capacity of the soil is 245kN/m2.

Let the safe Bearing capacity be taken as 200kN/m2. .

CALCULATION OF SAFE BEARING CAPACITY

The Safe Bearing Capacity for shallow foundation shall be calculated in accordance with IS 6403-1981

By the help of PLATE LOAD TEST we found

The safe bearing capacity of the soil is 245kN/m2.

CALCULATION OF SAFE BEARING PRESSURE

Calculate as under (st taken as permissible settlement of footing (IS:1904-1978) St=Sp(B(Bp+0.3)/Bp(B+0.3)2 Where B=the size of footing in m, Bp=size of test plate in m , Sp=settlement of test plate in m, and St=settlement of footing in m.

By this formulae we calculate Safe Bearing Pressure with help of SETTLEMENT CURVE

DATA OBTAINED FROM OUR SITE

Capacity of tank=3,50,000 liters. Safe Bearing Capacity of soil=200kN/m2. Depth of foundation=1.5m Wind pressure 1.5kN/m2. Let the height of supporting shaft be 20m.

The soil in palathurai area is of dry medium sand and no water table is found up to the depth of foundation.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
As we are using M20 grade of concrete and Fe415 grade of steel for construction of conical shaped overhead water tank. The design philosophy is based on 00000
