    The Meaning Of Supervisor


    A supervisor is a person who handles the people who produce and service
    performance or conduct .
    A supervisor is responsible for the results over those who watched , especially
    the quality and quantity of products and services .
    A supervisor is also responsible for conducting meetings in accordance with the
    needs of employees to discuss interests and tasks .
    And also have a duty and responsibility to subordinates ordered to perform a
    particular task or in accordance with the collective agreement is seven people .

    The larger a hotel , usually a supervisor or manager is the leader of a field


    or a specific part and lead between 15-20 people depending on the size of
    the organization.
    In a large company , there is usually a lot of supervisors in lead levels and
    fewer men .
    In some companies there is a term known as First Line Manager is the
    manager who was in front and faced with a number of employees ,
    companies like hotel with many more require too much labor as well as the
    supervisors who handle it .

    A hotel with rooms between 500 1000 requires the number of


    employees for each part that is not little . As an illustration , the hotel
    has 550 rooms with 14 floors , and each floor with the number of
    rooms from 15 served by two persons room boy . Means for the
    entire floor for one shift requires as many as 15 people or one floor
    of the room boy , while for every two floors require two supervisors
    supervisor means necessary . And so on for the other parts . There is
    a theory that says that , a comparison between the number of guests
    and the staff is about 1 in two . This amount includes all parts such as
    security , laundry , kitchen and etc.

    C. Duties and Responsibilities of Supervisors


    When a person is assigned as a supervisor and he has duties and
    responsibilities that are different from regular staff where he has responsibility
    for the bond and not lightly . Therefore, before selecting and lifting

    appointed as supervisor , he immediately made a boundary between
    themselves and the people they lead . This includes the mindset , attitudes and

    For an employee, you represent the management in terms ; authority , commands ,


    discipline , working hours / schedules , overtime pay , and so on . To the owner of the
    company and the boss , you represent productivity , its bond processing costs of
    food , the cost of manpower , quality , supervision , services to consumers and so on .
    Most supervisors are from position employees for having good judgment so
    appointed leader . This is fine, but that should be understood is , how he got guidance
    and direction to be a good supervisor and in accordance with company objectives ....

    Job Summary
    Assist the Front Office Manager in ensuring the smooth
    and efficient overall day-to-day operations of the Front
    Desk including Switchboard.
    Oversee Bell and Door staff in the absence of their
    department head.
    Provide excellent customer service per the standards of
    the hotel, and assist in situations to ensure customer
    satisfaction.
    Ensure department adherence to company policies,
    procedures and standards to ensure that guest
    expectations are exceeded.
    Assist in providing staff with ongoing coaching, training
    and development.
    Coordinate hotel emergency procedures within the
    scope of defined plans.

    Job Requirements
    1 - 2 years of front office supervisory experience
    preferably in a 4 or 5 diamond hotel property.
    2 years front office agent experience, including
    handling large group arrivals.
    Previous experience with scheduling,
    ordering/managing supply inventory
    Excellent command of the English language is
    essential, both written and verbal.
    A service excellence and relationship management
    role model with strong leadership including dealing with
    all guest service situations while continually ensuring
    guest satisfaction about Hotel standards.

    Proven effective supervisory skills including cultivating a


    positive, high performance team. Able to motivate, mentor
    and performance manage including corrective action to
    ensure continually high standards.
    Able to work under pressure and stressful situations while
    handling multiple tasks
    Attentive to details and have excellent organizational
    skills.
    Excellent interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and
    be guest focused.
    Neat, professional and well groomed at all times.
    Self motivated and have initiative - work with little
    supervision.

    Work flexible shifts - days, evenings, weekend and


    holidays.
    Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office and general
    computer applications.
    Knowledge of Maestro property management system
    and reservations management software is an asset.
    College diploma or university degree from Hospitality
    related program is an asset.
    Be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
    Speaking additional languages is an asset.
