What is User Experience Design?

User experience design is a concept that has many

dimensions, and it includes a bunch of different
disciplinessuch as interaction design, information
architecture, visual design, usability, and humancomputer interaction.

What is User Experience Design?

User experience (abbreviated as UX) is how a person feels
when interfacing with a system. The system could be a
website, a web application or desktop software and, in
modern contexts, is generally denoted by some form of
human-computer interaction (HCI).

What is User Experience Design?

The scope of UX design is large, and growing.
UX Design is focusing on projects centered on the design of
digital experiencesin particular, such interactive media as
Web sites and software applications.

About UX Designers
User Experience Design (UXD, UED), Its a process for
designing systems that offer a great experience to users.
(Justin Mifsud - Founder ofUsability Geek)
UX designer needs to understand how to create a logical and
viable structure for the experience.
UX designer needs to understand the elements that are
important to creating an emotional connection with the
products users.

UX vs UI
User experience(UX), on the other hand, is the internal
experience that a person has as they interact with every aspect of a
companys products and services.
user interface(UI) is the series of screens, pages, and visual
elementslike buttons and iconsthat you use to interact with a
device.

UX Elements
These elements include the things a user can:
touch (such as tangible products and packaging)
hear (commercials and audio signatures)
even smell (the aroma of freshly baked bread in a
sandwich shop).
It includes the things that users can interact with in ways
beyond the physical :
digital interfaces (Web sites and mobile phone
applications)
people (customer service representatives, salespeople,
and friends and family).

UX Wireframe Basic
A wireframe is a visual representation of a user interface,
stripped of any visual design or branding elements.
It is used by UX Designers
The purpose is to define the heirachy of items on a screen
and communicate what the items on that page should be
based on user needs.
Wireframes can stretch from a low fidelity pencil sketch to a
high fidelity and fully annotated diagram and all that
comesin-between.
The aim of wireframes is to be shared, scrutinized, and
collaborated on. They are design tools that allow you to make
mistakes and to test, learn, and improve. This happens early
in the project, when changes are relatively inexpensive.

UX Useability
Usability allows people to easily accomplish their goals.
UX design covers more than that, its about giving people a
delightful and meaningful experience.

UX Useability
The UX LOOK (Credibility, Trust, Harmony, Spirit)
How to create a site that inspires a sense of trust and
credibility.
UX FEEL (Interaction, Reaction)
A user needs to have that sense of satisfaction that they
can get around without hassle. It makes themfeel good.
USABILITY (Functionality, Individuality, Predictability)
A site must give great functionality in order to deliver a
good user experience.

The Project Ecosystem

By studying this project you will :
Have knowledge about UX Design processes trough the
project
Able to communicate your resposibilities and ideas more
effectively
help you, identifies different types of projects you may
work on, as well as the roles you may play, the people you
may depend on
Help you discusses some elements of company culture
that may affect how you work during the project.

The Project Ecosystem

Identify the Type of Site
Set design goals for yourself.
Solidify the primary objectives of the project
Understand which departments or business
units may (or should) be involved as you gather
business requirements
Determine the best methods for incorporating
user research
Ask questions about which systems and
technologies may be involved.

The Project Ecosystem

There are four main activities of the project that may
affect how you work during the project :
1. Planning
Identify the Type of Site
Choose your hats
Understanding the Company Culture
Pulling It Together

The Project Ecosystem

2. Creating the Proposal (for Consultand & freelancer) (will be
explain in session 2)
The core components of a good proposal are :

Title page
Revision history
Project overview
Project approach
Scope of work
Assumptions
Deliverables
Ownership and rights
Additional costs and fees
Project pricing
Payment schedule
Acknowledgement and sign-off

The Project Ecosystem

3. Project Objectives and Approach
A project objective is a statement of a measurable
goal for the project.
Knowing the overall approach, or methodology, of a
project is an important part of understanding when
and how youll be involved and how you should be
involving others, such as your project team and
business stakeholders.

There are two common types of approach :

o Waterfall approach (will be explain in session
2)
o Agile approach (will be explain in session 2)

Content Strategy and Information Architecture
There are 3 aspect to Designing UX :
Prototyping
Design testing with user
Development.
