Profession – Human Resources Professional

 Main Question – Do you think numbers are fun?

 Numbers are extremely fun subject. It is extremely significant in everyone’s life. It also depends upon how its taught
in school. If it’s taught in the right manner from the very beginning, students can imbibe and enjoy number in life.

 Sub-Question 1 – How do you think numbers are significant in your life?

 Numbers are very important in everyone’s life start from the very beginning. From the childhood, as we start
schooling whatever career we opt for numbers play a very important role.

 Sub-Question 2 – How are numbers important in your daily life?

 As a home-maker numbers are important in my life as I need to manage my expenses and savings. At work, since I
am an HR professional I need to manage manpower numbers, cost and budget etc. Even in nature, things like
atmospheric pressure and temperature in terms of numbers are very important.

 Sub-Question 3 – What’s your favourite topic in maths?

 Ratio and proportion is my favourite topic when it comes to number. For example, if a TV is made as circle, it will
look funny or the sofa we are sitting on in disproportionate, it will look weird.

 Sub-Question 4 – Today’s generation thinks Maths is not so interesting so it should be dropped,

your views on the same?
 Its not at all a good idea to drop maths as whichever career one opts for maths is very integral part. In arts, drawings
need to be done in a proportion, in commerce you need to manage your balance sheet, engineering is all about
numbers.

 If you have good teacher and teacher gives you a freedom to learn in a fun way, multiple ways of approaching the

 Any part of our life doesn’t involve number. How much you eat, what time you leave your home, when you reach

 With the help of numbers, we can do lot of fun drawing. Like I wrote number 2 and then drew a swan from the

techniques to my students so that they have fun while learning arts.

 Sub-Question 1 – How do you think numbers are significant in your life?

Interviewer – Khush Patel
Interviewee –Dilip Kanaujia
Profession – B. E., Maths Teacher

 Main Question – Do you think numbers are fun?

Research – Fun with numbers

 Some cool numbers and equations that are sure to surprise and enjoy all our fun math facts
 111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321
 12 + 3 - 4 + 5 + 67 + 8 + 9 = 100
 1x8+1=9
12 x 8 + 2 = 98
123 x 8 + 3 = 987
1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876
12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765
123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654
1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543
12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432
123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321
 The number 142857 is rather special. When you multiply it the digits found in the answer stay the same, just in
a different order. Check it out:
 1 x 142857 = 142857
2 x 142857 = 285714
3 x 142857 = 428571
4 x 142857 = 571428
5 x 142857 = 714285
6 x 142857 = 857142
 What happens when you multiply it by 7? You get another rather special number:
 7 x 142857 = 999999
 And it doesn't stop there:
 142 + 857 = 999
14 + 28 + 57 = 99
 142857 x 142857 = 20408122449
20408 + 122449 = 142857

That’s one amazing number! Isn’t it    

Research – Fun concepts with numbers

 Vampire Numbers: A website that features vampire numbers, or numbers that can be written as
the product of two numbers (called vampire fangs) that contain the same numerals the same
number of times as the vampire number. An example would be 1827 = 21 x 87.

 History and Philosophy of Pi: A website by web developer Brian Taylor that presents
information and history concerning the number pi. It lists many interesting facts about pi: For
instance, if you were to write out pi to one billion decimal places, it would stretch from New
York to Kansas.

 Googolplexian: This site shows a Googolplexian, which is the largest number with a name. It is
the number 1 followed by a googolplex of zeros. A googol is the digit 1 followed by a hundred
zeroes. A googolplex is the digit one followed by a googol of zeroes.

 CombinationLock.com: A website that features a multitude of free math games. These games
challenge the user to find clues and eventually discover the combination to open a lock.

 Introducing Runsums: A site run by Ron Knott, a professor of mathematics at the University of
Surrey, that explains the concept of the "runsum," or the sum of a run of whole numbers (such
as 4 + 5 + 6 = 15).
Absolute Fun with Numbers
Outcome & Conclusion

 Purpose
 To establish numbers as fun

 Brainstorming
 Team brain-stormed the survey outcomes
 Also did online research to establish the purpose

 Major Findings
 Numbers are an integral part of human being and
it’s required in all walks in life
 It is responsibility of the education system to
ensure that maths is taught in a fun way so that
everyone enjoys numbers
 As we grow up we can’t escape numbers in any
field so one should enjoy numbers to make their
life easy

 Limitation
 We could interview only 5 people who were from
different fields and age group so there was not
much uniformity in the thought process
For reading our efforts in this research, to all those who gave time for
interviews and teachers for giving this opportunity.
