Sub-Question 4 – Today’s generation thinks Maths is not so interesting so it should be dropped, your views
on the same?
Maths is an important subject but it should not be made compulsory at all levels of schooling. Only the important
topic which can be used in day-to-day life should be made compulsory.

The number 142857 is rather special. When you multiply it the digits found in the answer stay the same, just in
a different order. Check it out:
1 x 142857 = 142857
2 x 142857 = 285714
3 x 142857 = 428571
4 x 142857 = 571428
5 x 142857 = 714285
6 x 142857 = 857142
What happens when you multiply it by 7? You get another rather special number:
7 x 142857 = 999999
And it doesn't stop there:
142 + 857 = 999
14 + 28 + 57 = 99
142857 x 142857 = 20408122449
20408 + 122449 = 142857
Vampire Numbers: A website that features vampire numbers, or numbers that can be written as
the product of two numbers (called vampire fangs) that contain the same numerals the same
number of times as the vampire number. An example would be 1827 = 21 x 87.
History and Philosophy of Pi: A website by web developer Brian Taylor that presents
information and history concerning the number pi. It lists many interesting facts about pi: For
instance, if you were to write out pi to one billion decimal places, it would stretch from New
York to Kansas.
Googolplexian: This site shows a Googolplexian, which is the largest number with a name. It is
the number 1 followed by a googolplex of zeros. A googol is the digit 1 followed by a hundred
zeroes. A googolplex is the digit one followed by a googol of zeroes.
CombinationLock.com: A website that features a multitude of free math games. These games
challenge the user to find clues and eventually discover the combination to open a lock.
Introducing Runsums: A site run by Ron Knott, a professor of mathematics at the University of
Surrey, that explains the concept of the "runsum," or the sum of a run of whole numbers (such
as 4 + 5 + 6 = 15).

everyone enjoys numbers
As we grow up we can’t escape numbers in any
field so one should enjoy numbers to make their
life easy
Limitation
We could interview only 5 people who were from
different fields and age group so there was not
much uniformity in the thought process
For reading our efforts in this research, to all those who gave time for
interviews and teachers for giving this opportunity.
