RFID
• Tag
• Antenna
• Reader
• Station
PRINCIPLE INVOLVED
• Inductive Coupling
Transfer of energy from one chip to another by sharing magnetic energy and
circuitry uses load modulation to send the data back to reader.
WORKING OF RFID
• Tag: RFID tag consists of a micro chip in a label able to transport data when
exposed to radio waves by antenna.
• Tag consists of chip , antenna and package
• Tags are classified into two types based on their working
Active tags
Passive tags
ACTIVE AND PASSIVE TAGS
• RFID contains a reader that emit the radio waves to identify the tags
• The frequency range of operations determine its use
• General RFID readers frequency is about 13.56 MHz
• The range of working is less than 1m
• From the antenna the reader gets the information and pass it to the base
station provided.
APPLICATIONS OF RFID
• People Tracking : Rfid wrist bands can be used to track the location of a
person in the case of child kidnaps .
• Document Tracking : Instead of searching all the rows by using RFID we can
able to locate the document easily by connecting a RFID tag
• Health Care : Health monitoring system accesing patient records by their tags
• Manufacturing : Track package while shipping maintenance of goods become
easy theft can be reduced.
