as: CHINA, CAMBODIA, INDIAN, MYANMAR,LAOS and
MALAYSIA.

PIPHAT
• Ensemble in Thailand consisting of woodwind
and percussion instruments
• The most common Thai classical music.
• It can be performed either in loud outdoor
style using hard mallets or in an indoor style
using the padded hammers.
KHRUANG SAI
• An orchestra that combines some of the percussion
and percussion and wind instruments of the Piphat
with a stretched string section.
• Used for instrumental indoor performances
MAHORI
• Combination of Piphat and Khruang-Sai
• It is played by women in courts
