Question #1:
What common behaviors of students can be associated with the identified as strength and
weaknesses of Filipino character?
Answer:
WEAKNESS STRENGTH
- Lateness or leaving early - Cooperative
- Inappropriate cellphone and laptop usage - Creative
- Side conversation - Resourceful
- Disregarding the deadlines
- Cheating
Question #2:
What should be done in the Philippine Basic Education System so that it is more substance
than form?
Answer:
After further consultations and studies, during the President Aquino administration the
DepEd formally adopted the K-6-4-2 (K-12) basic education system.
Question #3:
Cite instances where the identified weaknesses of Filipino character are manifested in the
society.
Answer:
 Lack of discipline
Inside of the classroom there are instances that the students could embarrassed
their own teachers and if that teachers didn’t take the proper action to such behavior of the
students. This student may have a lot of courage to disrespect other people/personality in
the society. And the end the blame will fall to the school and the teachers who handle such
students.
Question #4:
Research on the curriculum guide for Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao from 1 to 10. Check on
the Pamantayan (standards) of EsP. Does the teaching of EsP help in eliminating the
weaknesses of the Filipino character?
Answer:
Yes, because the standards of Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao focuses on the self-development
of both students and teachers that includes the social relationships to others.
Question #5:
Research on the DepEd orders on Values Education and Values Integration. Can these DepEd
orders disprove that the Philippine Educational System is more form than substance?
Answer:
The DepEd Orders on Values Education and Values Integration disproves that the Philippine
Educational System is more on form rather than substance. According to D.O. 41,s. 2003 (Values
Education in the Basic Education Curriculum). The Values Ed. Teachers should ensure effective
implementation of values education which is one of the emphasis of the restructured Basic
Educational Curriculum.
There are some reasons for issuing the DepEd Orders, such as:
1. To effectively reinforce the role of every teacher as a values education thus strengthening
the Department’s collective efforts in developing desirable values among the students
2. To be able to meaningfully integrate values development in the lessons of every teacher in
each discipline.
3. To ensure that trained values ed teachers or those who majored in values ed are duly
recognized to perform functions to their expertise and competence.
Question #6:
How are these identified Filipino characters contributory to the top ten global issues? What
can schools do to address these issues?
Answer:
If we focuses on the weaknesses of the Filipino characters we must be the one who have a
lot of contribution to the global issues. Because extreme personalism (selfishness), passivity
and lack of initiative (drawing/plano lang), lack of discipline (violator of the law), and the other
mentioned weaknesses are the cause of the global issues. Meanwhile, if we continuously
develop and strengthen of characteristics we Filipino might lesson the contributory to the global
issues.
Therefore, schools should be the one who strictly implanting the good manners and right
conduct and should also set goals, rules, and regulations for the students and values ed
teachers to be followed.
