BAND MUSIC
Band music is a genre that lately has greatly increased its popularity
in Latin American countries; especially in several regions of Mexico.
ORIGINS OF THE BAND
 known more specifically as "Sinaloa band" and also as "Sinaloa drum", the band
originated within the Mexican state of Sinaloa during the 20s.
 This name was given thanks to the instruments that were used to interpret it and
among the which are the trumpets, the bass drum, the tarolas, the tuba and the
clarinet.
 In many places in Mexico, it is and continues to be customary for bands formed by a good
number of people (around 20 individuals) to play in the streets on the occasion of some
holiday or simply, because they have adopted that custom as a way of earn a living.
 The appearance of bands in the form of an orchestra was crucial in the daily life of those
times and an antecedent for the bands they can see today.
BAND INFLUENCES
 The Sinaloa band gathers characteristics of other sounds, many of which derive directly
from European music. Thus, we can find elements such as the waltz, the polka and the
mazurca, which over time have adapted to songs that are typical and well known to
those who have become followers of the genre.

Rock
 Definition
Rock is an English word that refers to a musical genre of very marked rhythm, born from the
fusion of several styles of American folklore and popularized since the 1950s.
The original concept mentioned rock and roll as the mix of blues, rhythm and blues, country
and other styles. At present, the term rock is often used to name the modern styles derived
from rock and roll, leaving the latter concept to designate the original rhythm that emerged in
the ’50s.
HISTORY
 Rock is a musical genre that emerged in the mid-twentieth century, this is characterized by
having lyrics with great meaning, addressing a broad spectrum of themes from love to
social protest, climate change, family, education, many of their songs seek change, it
should be noted that not all songs of this genre have the same degree of depth; Through
this, various emotions are expressed, such as joy, love, sadness or loneliness.
 Rock derived from other musical styles such as Jazz, Blues, Country and Folk, these styles
are part of the range of subgenres that this musical style has, which is diverse, from its
birth in the 1950s until today. Rock has been part of several changes and mixtures that
have endowed it with numerous shades, among the subgenres we find Soft Rock, Heavy
Metal, Hard Rock, Indie Rock, Punk, Alternative Rock, among others, as well as the mix
of styles are born Blues Rock, Folk Rock, Jazz Rock-Fusion and Country Rock.
EVOLUTION
 The musician and singer Elvis Presley (1935–1977) is considered the King of Rock and
one of his pioneers. Elvis became an icon of this musical style thanks to his dances, his
dress and his vocal ability.
 The most important rock band, however, emerged in England: The Beatles. It was formed
in 1960 by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
 However, there are many other artists that are considered mythical figures in rock, in all its
extension and aspects. This would be the case of the following groups:
The Doors. In the decade of the 60s this American formation appeared on the scene that is listed as one
of the most influential and important bands in rock. This is demonstrated by the fact that he has managed
to sell more than 100 million records worldwide.
Pink Floyd. Key group within the so-called British rock is this that has sold more than 300 million
albums among which have been titled "The Dark Side of the Moon" or "Animals."
What in. Mythical within the international music scene is this band that appeared in the 70's and that
made its leader, Freddie Mercury, a true icon.
The Rolling Stones. One of the most important rock music formations in history and that is still active is
that of Mick Jagger or Keith Richards.
INSTRUMENTS
 The electric guitar is the great protagonist of Rock, to the point that its sound has become
typical of the genre and is associated with it directly, especially in solos or “riffs”. Other
typical instruments are the bass and drums, but also the electric piano or keyboard, and in
the most contemporary cases, the synthesizer is also included, an electronic device capable
of producing novel and particular sounds.
Pop ballad.
The ballad pop is a musical genre that appeared
in the 1960s that reached popularity in some
countries of Latin America and Europe,
characterized by being a genre played in slow
time, always dealing with love themes.
It is a Latin American genre, without
attribution to any country in particular,
appeared in the 1960s, with widespread
popular dissemination. The most famous
balladists are the Mexican José José, Marco
Antonio Solís, Emmanuel and Luis Miguel,
and the Spanish Rocío Durcal, among
others.
