1. How does VMware ESX Server works?
A single physical server can run several
virtual machines simultaneously. Each
virtual machine represents a complete
system—with processors, memory,
networking, storage and BIOS—so that
Windows, Linux, Solaris and NetWare
operating systems and software
applications run in virtualized environment
without any modification. Sharing the
physical server resources among a
number of virtual machines increases
hardware utilization and dramatically
decreases capital cost.

• VMware Virtual Infrastructure Client (VI Client) to the ESX Server
The absolute best way to remotely administer can
Manage VMware ESX server by using Virtual
Infrastructure (VI) Client. This is an installable client
that provides you full access to administer on ESX
server. This client can easily be downloaded and
installed from the initial ESX Welcome screen,
Below Screen will prompt you to Run or Save the VMware-viclient.exe installation
program. Running it.
1. The installation is simple and straightforward. When it is complete, you can run the
VI Client from the desktop icon that was created.

2. The VI Client log on window appears. Enter server name/IP, username, and password.
3. Click Login. A security warning appears.

4. To continue, click Ignore.

Note: This security warning message

occurs because the VI Client detected a
certificate signed by the ESX 3.5 Server
host itself (default setting). For highly
secure environments, certificates generated
by trusted third‐party are recommended.
Here is what the VI Client looks like, once you login:
