- Supply in china was cut because of china locked down their country
- Affected to demand world trade, economy, and shipping logistic because of
subsequently rest of the world went into shutdown mode
-But companies as cities and countries demand will start to comeback, because
this case artificially induced reduction of supply and demand over a period.
-World Trade Pattern may change, the US and China trade already talking

Individual Company Level
- Global maritime trade will plunge by 4.1% in 2020 due to the unprecedented
disruption caused by COVID-19, UNCTAD estimates in its Review of Maritime
Transport 2020, released on 12 November.
- The report warns that new waves of the pandemic that further disrupt supply chains
and economies might cause a steeper decline. The pandemic has sent shockwaves
through supply chains, shipping networks and ports, leading to plummeting cargo
volumes and foiling growth prospects, it says.
- According to the report, the short-term outlook for maritime trade is grim. Predicting
the pandemic’s longer-term impact as well as the timing and scale of the industry’s
recovery is fraught with uncertainty.

- Many shipping companies are shaken to the core, because they are not making
money
- About who is the winners and losers, it really depends on how they put it see
- To be the winners:
- - the companies need to have assurance for customers perspective
- - having a distributed way of producing by having a more where they locate their
factories
So, from the Mr. Lie Sek Guan. He said that Asean shipping industry is in the good
position because factories from china to southeast Asia is very near and Asean want to

World War II

The Second World War triggered logistics trade between

countries. After the war, logistics also remained
prosperous. Many developing countries are building
industrial infrastructure. In contrast, Africa, East Asia
and South America do not have proper ports. Therefore,
this is the reason why the cranes are built there on general
cargo ships (the ship on the right is S.A Van Der Stel)

weather), ordinary cargo can unload 900 tons of
commodities per day. Using modern container ships,
