LIMITS

Module 1
A. Apply the different techniques in evaluating the following limits:

1. lim 2x = 2(8) = 16 6. lim x² - 16 = (x - 4) (x + 4) = 4 + 4 = 8

x→8 x→4 x – 4 x–4

2. lim (6x - 3) = 6(2) - 3 = 9 7.

  lim 4x² - 9 = (2x+3) (2x+3) = 2 ( – 3 = -6
x→2 x→ - 2x + 3 2x + 3

3. lim 5 = 5

x→ -3 x+3 x+3
4. lim x² - 3x – 10 = (x+2) (x+5) = 6 + 2 = 8
9. lim x² - 2x + 1 = (x - 1) (x - 1) = 1 – 1 = 0
x→6 x–5 x–5
x→1 x–5 x–1
5. lim (x³ - 2x² + x – 3) = -1³ - 2 (-1)² + 4 – 3 = -1 – 2 – 4 = -7
x→ -1
10. lim x² - 4x – 5 = (x+1) (x - 5) = (x+1) (x – 5)
x→ -1 x² – 1 x² – 1 (x - 1) (x+1)

I found this module bearable to answer as the lesson was
discussed and this topic was not that hard.

This module took me quite a long time to answer as it was a
bit longer than the other modules. It was also a bit exhausting
to type considering the solutions were lengthy.
