INTRODUCTION
It is important to know that in Physical
Education and Sports, the only
elements that in use is the human
body itself.
3
OBJECTIVES
✘ Identify the various parts of human
anatomy and physiology
✘ Understand how your body works and
how you efficiently use yourself in
performing tasks and activities
4

BASIC PARTS OF
THE BODY
6
SURFACE
ANATOMY
Surface anatomy is the
identification of landmarks
on the surface of the skin
which allows us to compare
our knowledge of our won
surface anatomy with that of
an injured person.
7
THE
SKELETON
The skeleton is
made up of bone.
Which is living
tissue that requires a
blood supply.
8
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
1. Central Nervous System
Consist of two parts:
Brain
Spinal Cord
2. Peripheral Nervous System
comprised by motor
(voluntary) nerves and
sensory nerves.
3. Autonomic Nervous System
controls activity in the
body without involving
the conscious mind.
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
1 Airway
The airway or breathing
passage is the pathway
through which air flows into
your lungs.
2. Lungs
A group of organs and tissues
that work together to help
you breathe
THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
1. Heart
The heart is a muscular organ
that pumps blood to the
body and the lungs.
2. Blood Vessels
Blood vessels are the channels
or conduits through which
blood is distributed to body
tissues. The vessels make up
two closed systems of tubes
that begin and end at the
heart.
THE ABDOMEN
Abdomen contains the spleen, stomach,
intestines, liver and pancreas, kidneys,
bladder, female reproductive system and
the blood vessels which supply the them
and the legs.
19
THE SKIN
The skin comprises a number of layers ad
structures which protect the body from
temperature change, damage, fluid loss
and infection. What we see as skin is in
fact the outermost layer which is dead.

SPECIAL MOVEMENTS
“
In examining disease, we gain
wisdom about anatomy and
physiology. In examining the
person with disease, we gain
wisdom about life
