    Control window allows the
    user to set many of the
    operating parameters of the
    device.
    Clock section specifies the
    current clock frequency. Clock
    divide-by-two feature can be
    enabled.
    To conserve power, the user
    may power down different
    subsystems on the device, or
    perform a full power down.
    Output option specifies sine
    or cosine output.
    To the right are radio boxes
    that control different bits to be
    set or cleared in the control
    register.
    DAC CONTROL
    EDIT OUTPUT FREQUENCY
    As with the profile
    frequency tuning adjustment
    words, clicking the edit box
    will invoke a dialog window
    that will assist the user in
    entering the information.
    This data will not be loaded
    until the load button is
    pressed.
    When unloaded changes
    have been made, the load
    button will flash green until
    the data is loaded.
    PROFILES
    The AD9858 has four user-
    defined profiles (segments of
    memory). Each profile can be
    programmed with a different
    frequency tuning adjustment
    word.
    Clicking the edit box next to
    any value will invoke a dialog
    window that will enter the
    information for frequency .
    READ BACK
    When the Readback
    button is pressed, the
    evaluation software will
    poll and display the
    current contents of all
    internal memory registers
    When the Clear button
    is pressed, a master reset
    is issued and all internal
    memory registers are
    cleared.
    REGISTER MAP
    SELECT PORT
    Line Printer Terminal,
    LPT is used by IBM
    compatible computers as
    an identification for the
    parallel port such as
    LPT1, LPT2, or LPT3.
    This is commonly
    required when installing
    a printer on an IBM
    compatible computer.
    Generally, the majority
    of all computers utilize
    LPT1 and will not have an
    option for another LPT
    port unless additional
    ports are added to the
    computer.
    MAIN WINDOW
    On starting up the AD9858
    software program, the following
    screen will appear.
    This is the main program
    window. All other windows are
    minimized to focus on this one.
    It has File, PC I/O, View and
    Menus and the Load Setup, Save
    Setup, Reset, I/O Config, and FUD
    buttons
    APPLICATIONS
    By connecting Oscillator, we give reference clock to Direct Digital
    Synthesizer , connecting the AD9858 Eval board through printer port
    by printer cable and connecting to the spectrum analyzer by probes
    we can observe the following below shown responses at different
    frequencies.
